Trolled by Codex?

Oh I did, way back when I first started having trouble. Understand that I'm not arguing with you directly, because I'm frankly clueless about this whole process, but "top men (and women)" on Twitter contradict your statement. Ironically neither way is working for me, so who knows? Let me ask you this - what's the point of having a place in stations to turn in new Codex Discoveries if that process is supposed to be automatic?

AFAIK the Codex Vouchers are just a Credit bonus (and incentive) for filling your Codex Page.
Other than that, nothing to it. About as important as getting an Efficiency Bonus with Probes basically. If you need the Credits, a small Bonus for new Players.

Someone would have to make a Codex 1st Discovery, then (without selling the small Voucher) ask others if they see it in their own Codex Pages.
Could be I'm wrong, but can't test it right now.

(IMHO the instant Codex entry addition seems plausible, as I didn't get any specific Messages one would expect otherwise when selling my Codex Vouchers - instead, the Codex Messages came straight after completing the respective Composition Scan)

Do you remember the message you got for first discovery? I didn't get any message, which made me think the thing is bugged. I do get messages when I scan something already in the Codex.

I'm on PS4, not that it should matter, but just FYI.

It also acts funky with stellar objects like Stars.

I noticed in my codex the inner spur only had ONE reported neutron star (Jackson's Lighthouse I believe).
So I thought to myself: "Cool, let me go confirm that, and while I'm at it, let me go by a few other Neutrons". So I hopped around to various Neutron stars, some undiscovered (for me), but a lot previously discovered by others.

Can't scan it with a composition scanner...I used the FSS and zoomed in on it to be sure - can't fire probes at it..

Got back to my home station and sold my data just in case, but I opened my codex and still only have the one star (Jackson's) in my codex. It is now confirmed, but NONE OF THE OTHERS ARE THERE.

Where are the other 5 neutrons I flew straight up to? Why are they not showing up as confirmed for me? I'm assuming they MAY show as Reported for other commanders, but...

I have a feeling that you can only get Confirmed entries added to the codex if they're something that was reported by another commander first. If you find and "confirm" it without it being Reported in your codex first, it won't get added as a Confirmed item.

That was kind of a buzz kill. I actually got enjoyment flying out to the other neutrons thinking it would add them to my codex, only to find they weren't going to get added to my codex at all.
