Trouble finding G5 Materials

So I'm trying to find HGE, in Federation space. But I'm having zero luck, trying to find G5 materials, with system stats being reset. Currently docked at LHS 2887.

I'm kind of losing my patience. I'm jumping into CZ and RES sites and nothing is spawning in. I've tried jumping in and out of Supercruise, jumping in and out of the system and logging on and off. Not sure what to do at this point. Cause I'm tuning out of G5 materials and I can't find places to replenish them.

Just keep moving from system to system, scan the nav beacon then reenter SC to check. You'll find one in short order. Then you can use the exploit and fill up.

It’s winding me up a bit too. In the first week of the beta I was regularly finding 7 or 8 HGEs per system and thought that the new system was great [haha]. It’s either the BGS reset or the fact that what I was seeing were “developer rates” (which would explain quite a lot), but I’ve just had no luck finding them since the update went live. I agree – I’ve never known the game to be as buggy as this... huge glaring bugs.

Just run high-rank missions and kill whatever NPCs come along. You'll be up on mats before you know it.

Here is a good Video Guide from DTA: https://youtu.be/9GxneGB3j2o

This should tell you everything you need to know.

There are however, still some items you just can't find. For example, I needed Military Supercapacitors, but they just aren't to be found. Tried everything, they're simply not spawning.

You can however, still use this method even if what you want won't spawn.

I used this method in my home system. I found an HGE that was in a different state then what I wanted and went there anyway. This source spawned Core Dynamics Composites and Proprietary Components. I don't need either.. which is what I wanted.

I farmed this HGE over and over for about 10 minutes and I was maxed out on both these mats. I then jumped over to a Material Trader and traded them all for Military Supercapacitors.. boom.. done.

Yes, they trade at a 6/1 ratio (36/1 for the Proprietary) but I don't care. I can literally max these out.. at will in 10 minutes. In an hour or so I could max out my Supercapacitors if I needed to.

Use this method for what you can find, and trade for what you can't.

Honestly... finding Materials is easier right now then it's ever been before. I hated it at first, but now I love it.

Yeah I watched DTEA's video last night.

I just wish FDev would set a minimum number of HGE's per system or something rather than making relogging a neccessity. The thought of material gathering has me on a break from Elite for now.
I have orher games to play where 'exit to main menu' is not a required work around.
I remember during beta all the posts, and even spotting a few systems myself, where HGE's spawned in good number. It had me hopeful. Oh well.

I'll likely come back in a few weeks or so.

I found some military supercaps. If you get core dynamics than i bet you were in an federation system. Even if that system is in war state the mats in HGE will be the core dynamics because of fed system. Better find non fed or non imperial system with war state.

So I went to the Nav Beacons, but it won't scan it or give me the signal sources, when I jump back into supercruise.

The heck am I doing wrong?

Drop into system.
Honk.
Drop into Nav Beacon.
Select/target Nav Beacon.
Jump into Supercruise.
Check left hand Nav Panel.
(Check filters set correctly)

I started out in Independent and had no luck, so I tried Fed system because the old rules don't always apply anymore (I found Proto Heat Radiators in a non boom system for example.)

I basically tried HGE's in War and Civil War in Federation and Independent.. dozens of HGE's.. found everything but Supercaps.

Are you sure you found them recently? Because there seemed to be nothing I could do to make them spawn, trading for them was my only option.

And yes, you're right.. the Core Dynamics were indeed in a Fed system as they should have been. They are just currently so easy to get that they're my 'trade currency.'

Just maxed out MSCs in SOCH.

Well before the update i had 0 supercaps. After the update i did little bit mining and exploring but after that i did full time hge farming. I had around 6 supercaps. Not much but still something.

Old system doesnt work anymore. You are right about that. I just experienced this to in an outbreak system. I got war state mats in hge. Something weird is going on. Systems have multiple states now and i think thats ruining the old system.

The materials you get from a HGE are dependent of the owning faction's state and no longer determined by the system state. You see that in the top right corner information after selecting the HGE.

Heh,

Months ago I started a thread expressing concern about the availability of G5 mat's after 3.3

After playing the Beta, I commented that it didn't look like locating G5 mat's was going to be a problem and that nobody might ever have to struggle to find them again.

Of course, the fundamental flaw in that assessment was that the Beta was using the (at the time) current BGS rather than the new one.

I haven't played the game much since 3.3 but I logged in to collect my xmas firewaorks from Li Yong-Rui yesterday and decided to engineer a couple of bi-weave shields at the same time.
I've got no Improvised Components, dammit.
Off to an independant system in Civil Unrest, then.
Oh, wait.
EDDB tells me there are currently a grand total of two systems in Civil Unrest and they're both in Fed' space.
The game tells me there are two different systems in Civil Unrest, both in Fed space and both with tiny populations... but off I go.
After an hour of hopping back and forth between these systems I've maxxed-out my store of CD-Composites, Mil-Composites and a couple of G4 mats but got ZERO Improvised Components.

Seems like, perhaps, it might have been prudent for FDev to set a variety of systems into different states when 3.3 went live.

On the bright side, after collecting my Pack-hounds, I quit LYR so I'll have his agents searching for me for a while.
Good luck finding me in Skyrim. :p
