Well I'm not surprised. Frontier reset all the faction states together with the changes to the BGS. Not thinking for one second how this affects their new implementation of signal sources. Since these are now faction and state specific, it will become harder to actually get the desired G5 materials than before. Since previously the controlling faction's allegiance and state determined which mats can spawn in signal sources. And all those signal sources were tied to the controlling faction's allegiance and state. Oh well, the icing on the cake in this bug ridden update. This is what you can expect from a company that skimps on their QA department. A shame really, because this overshadows the good things of this update.

The spawn rates are super low,on beta High grades were easy to find.On live now they dont spawn even in a big system,with faction requirement set.
Ive seen max 2 high grades spawn,and every time one of the spawns expired in seconds.
If this is not bugged or glitched Id rather have the old system back.

If you patrolled near main star at low speed they would spawn every 5 mins
The sheer number of data and materials is questionable per se. It seems like way to just extend playtime. With a severe shortage of certain type this seems even more so, intended or not.
Built a maxed out G5 reinforced prismatic yesterday morning and every single manufactured material was acquired via trading.
Improvised Components are impossible to obtain so i just swap up from the abundance of Miiltary Grade Alloys and Core Dynamics Composites you can get from boom systems.
I really like the new system. Jump in, scan the beacon, pick target, go scoop.

It is not impossible but you need a lot of patience. I maxed out improvised components in LP98-132 system. One of the problem is the bgs reset so we dont have many good systems in civil unrest or outbreak ( for pharma isolators )states.
Second problem is the hge signals are linked to the minor factions. State of the minor faction is very important. Maybe the system is in civil unrest but the hge signal from one of those minor factions could be in different state.
For improvised comp and pharma isolators scrap the federal or imperial systems. Even if they are in civil unrest or outbreak and even if you found the right hge signal with civil unrest state you will probably get proto radiolic. Dont ask me why. I dont know either. It had nothing to do with boom state.
Go for alliance or independent systems.
I almost maxed out every g5 mats without using the mats trader but right now pharma isolators ing me off

If it's not out of the way then I wouldn't skip Federation/Empire systems when a faction has the Independent allegiance and proper state. These can still spawn with the desired G5 mats. The system allegiance and state don't have to match. For example, I found Military Supercapacitors from a HGE signal source with Independent allegiance and in civil war state. This was in an Empire controlled system in boom state. But for the sake of searching it's more convenient to look for system allegiance and state. Since we can't filter on faction allegiance and state. The faction information on EDDB also seems to be from before the BGS reset.
It's just a real hassle now. Since even when you do find that HGE that has the right allegiance and state you're still not guaranteed to the very rare G5 mat you're after. This because there is only one state that will increase the odds for them to spawn. You can still get the other G4/5 mats that can spawn in that state. I've seen this numerous times. I'm glad I'm done with it for now and have all the manufactured G5 mats restocked.

I was not so lucky in fed system. I am searching for pharma isolators. Fed system was in outbreak state and the minor faction was also in outbreak state so i was like ok this hge must give me pharma isolators anddd nope. It just gives me fed system mats. I did this six times and still no pharma.
For improvised comp i ruled out fed and imperial and went to an alliance system with civil unrest and got loads of civil unrest hge with improvised comp.
I agree it is so much hassle now. I actually liked the old system better.

I'm not seeing any HGEs in this system.
Thats the annoying RNG part. It can take 30 minutes or hours. Hoping for the hge spawn and then hge must be the right state
( outbreak ). I jumped in that system and got the first hge right away but gave me the wrong mats. Soon after i found a new hge with outbreak and farmed 70 pharma isolators. ( The log in log out and again log in trick for farming the same hge over and over again ).
One thing is for sure there is definitely hge spawning there.
I just found Military Supercapacitors in Wyrd (which is in war state). The HGE faction state was "war" (which is what you would expect to be looking for when hunting MSC's). Seems that, as they always have, MSC's share a drop table with Military Grade Alloys (MGA's) ...and it seems like the odds of MSC : MGA is about 1:6 or 1:8 or something (rough guess, subject to RNG spikes, of course). You just have to keep looking ...and use material traders liberally.
