There is nothing intimidating or violent about that meme. I know that CNN really wants there to be, because it would really help their narrative, but it's simply a little meme to celebrate a president that refuses to kowtow to a rabid opposition media.
And to elaborate - Social media... Youtube, Facebook, Twitter (in addition to people leaving cable for Amazon, HBO and Netflix) have allowed people more control over the flow of information than the mainstream media giants could have ever imagined
. 30 years ago, the MSM controlled every bit of the narrative - if they had an agenda to push, they pushed it, and there was no alternative mass communication with which people could challenge it.
Social media and internet news have changed that. The MSM is starting to realize that - that they are no longer in control of the narrative - and they are panicked and furious. How dare we "little people" question them about their credentials
and value as a news organization? How dare we think for ourselves and pay attention to important issues instead of following along on their little tripe train? How dare we challenge their supremacy over the people and the government and the narrative?
They are losing. And that little meme and the ones that have followed in the wake of the little scandal they've stumbled into are proof of it. Nobody is listening to their crap anymore.
The situation is quite different as I perceive it.
Framing the situation as a conflict between sides, where one side is bad, and the other is good is a human thing.
But what that meme demonstrates is that a fat boastful liar can display threats and violence to an institution that is supposed to be the fifth estate of the people, and dimwits will perceive him as a hero while he cavorts in the gutter. I have never seen any work of art that so demeans a President.
He's the perfect representative of his supporters. And that meme? It's the distillation of it.
