Turn off the "Prompts"

It's no use telling me to press JOY17. I have a Warthog. I have no way of knowing what JOY17 is short of looking it up. And even then I have to figure out whether it's the joystick or the throttle.

That being so, the option to turn off utterly useless information would be much appreciated.

i'd prefer it auto-turns off after xx amount of times you've seen it. you could make it re-enable by having the same thing in sound effect controls, i've disabled the countdown for supercruise & fuel scoop complete for example.

I've been playing Elite since 2016. The new update which enables load of "prompts" to do things, such as disengage supercruise, should be either an option you can turn on/off or tied to a CMDRs combat rank. I know I have to press J to disengage, I've been doing it every day for four years. This is obviously aimed at new players, but what about the veterans?

A toggle in graphic settings.

I think it takes away a bit from the beaten-to-death-horse immersion.

That's what I would do personally.

Put an option in game settings to enable or disable the keys messages. This way people can choose to see which joy23 key or C key to press if they want.

Personally I don't want to be told which key to press every. I would turn it off if it was an option in game

I've just checked on my main and an altCMDR - I'm not getting the "Press J to disengage" prompt.... it turns out that I am - not to disengage SuperCruise - but to abort a HyperJump.

Just adding my voice to the crowd, I don't need this. I can appreciate how helpful it might be in a training scenario, but in the actual game I'd rather it be like the pre-flight checklist - enabled for first use, then just switch it off imo, or at least allow the player the option to switch it off.

Yeah, I'm on HOTAS so I just get "press to disengage". The thing is, I wouldn't mind having a prompt there, it's just not ideal wording. "Ready to disengage" would be perfect.

I'd like the prompts to be disabled. Since I use a combination of keyboard and X52, I get both keyboard prompts and HOTAS styled buttons for the prompts. (J or "Toggle Icon")

"Press X to take off" when landed

I play keyboard only for the flight controls with my own gaffatape / arcade button extravaganza to help with the main functions (I know, it looks terrible but it just works).

To perform an action I press the button that I've studiously written the function on in felt tip - "press joy 7" is meaningless.
If we can't have a toggle at least let us change the text to "press massive red button" or "press the black one near the red wobbly one"
....or better still "ready to disengage".
