Newcomer / Intro Turning Off Onboard Comm Radio

Hopefully this is just a dumb noob question...

I use Discord, so when multicrew buddy comes on board we do not need/want the onboard comms. How do you turn it off?

- I tried the ship's middle control panel, turning voice channel off. No effect, didn't do anything.
- I pressed [ESC] and went into options->Audio and moved the Voice Volume slide bar down to zero... that almost 100% worked.

But every time my buddy speaks (through Discord) there is a moment of 1970's CB radio cackle.

Also....

We would use the ship onboard comms radio instead of Discord, but its awful! It sounds like a 1980 radio shack walkie-talkie. Why are voice comms worse in the future?

(BTW we prefer Discord because when we shutdown the game we can still talk.)

As for the quality. Listen to ISS radio. It's vry bad quality and that's despite ISS being still in the Earth's atmosphere, basically. There is a lot of radiation in space. All of it, in fact. Isolating one single frequency of electromagnetic ratiation is hard.
Or alternative explanation - David Braben like WWII. Whole flight model is based on WWII planes, so why not the comms?. ;)

Comms panel - right-most tab (gear symbol? Pile of rubble?) - VOICE CHANNELS
- wing voice auto-connect: off
- voice: off

When I played last night this did nothing. I will double check again tonight.

If you have both of those off and you still get auto-connected to voice chat when joining the wing, it's a bug and you should report it.

Ha ha! Also, someone needs to explain to him that spaceships in the future do not need windows.

Because it crackle...crackl...hiss.. burps. Don't ya think?

Remember the first incarnation of the DC? I thought my ship would fall apart or at least it would loose its upper set of wings. :p
