Turns out the best ship for SCO is...

... the Sidewinder.

No, this isn't a joke.

For the longest time the Hutton Run record used to be 1 hour and 22 minutes. As predicted when the SCO FSD was published, this record is being absolutely decimated, and it indeed is. As of writing this (and most probably not for long) it's a whopping 31 minutes and 50 seconds.

And the most incredible thing is that that time was done with a Sidewinder, of all possible ships. (I doubt anybody could have predicted that.)

Well, a Sidewinder and the help of a bunch of other commanders along the way to refuel the ship. (Whether you consider this a "legit" Hutton Run or not, is up to opinion, I suppose.)

Anyway, turns out that the Sidewinder is the most efficient in SCO mode, of all ships, even though it has ridiculously little space for extra fuel.

If the poor old Sidewinder ever deserved some love, this is it. :)

And combine that with the upgraded thrusters. And that equals Nice.
I put one in an imperial eagle i had lying around. quite fun but ultimately useless for me.

Flimley

31 minutes eh?

I stuck one on my sightseeing DBX, travelling 12KLS in about 10 seconds was nice (it didn't overheat, but used a fifth of a tank of fuel) going, I may consider slapping one on when I wander the lane between bubble and Colonia again, (FC back-up, naturally) just for rapid transit between bodies.

It has to be done with a Hauler or Sidewinder, because the smaller the SCO FSD, the faster it is during SCO and only these two ships can mount class 2 SCO FSDs.

Keep in mind that heat generation is highly dependent on frame rate.

The same 1 million LS jaunt in my Corvette resulted in 30000% heat and an eventual ejection at an uncapped frame rate, but no damage and ten heatsinks left, after burning 500 tons of fuel in one activation, at 24 fps.

For me works SCO the best on Python and T9, both those with ability to perform "usual" tasks and reach destinations faster especially on longer routes and which have built in big enough main fuel tank. One lvl5 internal used for Guardian FSD booster and reduced jump range is a fair trade :)

Organising other commanders for refuelling is awesome!
