Guide / Tutorial TUTORIAL: How to Find Chemical Manipulators?

Hi everyone,

This is the third video in my Elite Dangerous Tutorial series, and will be showcasing the best method of finding Chemical Manipulators.

I've listened to a lot of your feedback regarding my previous videos and changed the format a little bit to streamline the key points of the video quicker, which I believe will be much more enjoyable to watch.

Please leave your constructive feedback as I will value every single opinion and try to make my videos better over time, so thank you in advance!

Lol, I really need to stop reading forum posts at 6 am in bed while my Mrs is asleep next to me. I would love to watch your video but I have no headphones with me :(
Definitely will watch later though as these items are the last step in getting my Annie a level 5 FSD upgrade.
Thanks for sharing :)

Congratulations on your annaconda, if CM'S is the only thing you need then it's easy sailling from here :D

I will be posting another video hopefully today, still deciding between Unknown Artifacts or Imperial Shielding / Core Dynamics Composites

If you find a system with government type Anarchy you'll won't even have the problem to get a bounty on your head. Just keep stocking up on 100+ Manipulators and you are set for a while. It's rare to find these systems though...

Great video, didn't know about Seeking Weapons.

Here's my vid, gives 2 other ways to get them ,including a non-combat method.

Yes it's true about anarchy systems, also you can get these in outbreak (seeking meds), famine (seeking foods), and boom systems (seeking goods), however im still experimenting with formats and wanted this one to be short and simple. Also attacking weapon dealers is a bit easier on your conscience than opening fire on civilians or even worst - civilians that are starving or sick :p

Great video, thanks! I had no idea about the map filters, so lots of useful info, cheers :) +1
Now to get out there and give it a go ;)

No, I destroyed about 5 or 6 Type-9s in a famine distribution centre and they did not drop a single component of any kind.

i did not find any "seeking weapons" POI's. Checked 7 systems at war. I rember seeing them a couple of months ago. Has anything changed?

I can't confirm this with source, but when I tried to look for hints where to find the damned Manipulators, I remember someone saying that since this patch (or last one, can't remember) these 'Seeking Weapons' PoI were disabled or simply removed. At least for now.

Personally, I am checking any salvage USS I come across. 0 Chem M. so far, but few other rare mats, so patience is the key I guess :).

Good luck with your hunt!

Yeah, there are no more "Seeking Weapons" or similar POI's anymore which makes getting Chemical Manipulators (near) impossible.
I have been searching every system I can (war/boom/etc) for 1-2hrs a night for over a month now and have yet to find a single Chemical Manipulator.
I have been stopping at every unknown signal source I can find, but most seem to be Data Sources (private data beacons) and even found a salvageable wreckage site, but still after a month of non-stop searching, I have not even found 1 chemical manipulator.

I think my only other choice is to buy and outfit a fighting ship and hit the REZ sites and destroy any and all T7's and T9's despite any bounty I might wrack up (unless I can find a good REZ site in an Anarchy system).

I am beyond frustrated right now.

I don't blame you. This is beyond ridiculous.

I'm glad I got at least one of every class FSD modded to at least +47% jump range before this happened, but it really sucks for those who haven't yet.

Hi all,

It looks like the rules have changed since this thread was started. First, you will never see "seeking weapons" in a warzone but even if you did a Type 9 will never drop Chemical Manipulators under any conditions.

Does anyone know the best way to acquire chemical manipulators now?

I have so far killed 20 or 25 T9s and can say they definitely drop Chemical Distillery on some occasions but will never drop Chemical Manipulator.

Thanks for that link to the other post.
I am going to try that out as I am at my wits end (literally over a month of searching with no luck).
