TWCS Throttle question

The problem is getting it evenly on to the top of the rail, no matter how flexible the finger.

Use a cocktail stick or similar.

The problem with the TWCS isn’t really a lack if lubrication. If you clean the rails and put fine oil on the problem gets worse.

The problem is the material design which allows the runners to grab the rails.

Nyogel and the slide grease are damping greases which make a barrier to this. Really they increase the friction but prevent the grabbing so make the movement smooth.

Precisely. They give a nice smooth hydraulic feel for that reason.

Hella late to the party but I had the same issue for the longest time. But! If you're willing to do a little bit of diy, you'll never have to lube the rails again. I highly suggest CoreHawk3D's throttle mod on etsy. It replaces the piece that rides on the rails with a 3D printed, closed ended block. The mod also comes with your choice of bearings for the rails to ride on: metal bearings for an ultra smooth--but noisy--glide, self-lubricating polymer bushings for a silent silky smooth glide, or both if you want to experiment. Installation takes about 30 mins and the seller has an installation video on youtube. https://www.etsy.com/listing/885326705/impulse-slider-thrustmaster-t16000m?ref=yr_purchases

When I had a T16000M set I had to open the throttle and lube the rails every now and then (used the silicon lube I also use for my climbing treadmill), it became much better after lubing it. Another issue is that the throttle is far too light (light cheap plastic), I had to place a large heavy object in front of it so it wouldn't slide over the table when I pushed the throttle forwards.

Aside from these issues, it was a rather nice budget throttle.

A simple wide mouse mat (the kind which goes under the keyboard as well) solves the sliding forward problem, speaking from experience :D

It's crazy when an old thread of mine gets dug up like this!

I've lubed and throttle and it's not a permanent solution. Here's what may be the ultimate solution to the throttle stickiness:

I'd try it, but unfortunately it looks like it's sold out at this time:

I hope the guy that makes it is still making it! If anyone finds a source, post it here.

He is! I purchased one about a month ago and it's such a game changer!

Running on my 2nd TWCS (first one's internal wiring harness died earlier this year). Still have that giant tube of Nyogel 767A, and the new throttle is as good as old now. :D

Which is fine but it is very expensive.

Try Hetman No. 8 slide grease for Trombones!

One application on my TWCS well over a year ago and problem solved :)
