PvP Two birds-One PvP solution

I have suggested this a few times in odd posts, so I thought I'd actually make it a real topic for once, I have a solution to cater for both PvPers and victims of grievers. a system that will encourage PvP battles and make it a viable aspect of the game whilst slightly reducing the number of ganks…

Galactic bounties!

The system will work as such;

- Only PvP crimes contribute to Galactic Bounty (keeping all regular PvE criminal players happy)

-2M cap is now lifted (Stupidly low anyway, and is a stepping stone to creating a PvP gold rush ;) )

-People on friends list or, ex-friends list CANNOT Claim bounties from listed players (almost completely removing Exploits)

- Criminals with Bounties exceeding a certain figure (say 10M) will be revealed for all to see on Galmap. this state will remain regardless of notoriety.

-Bounties are converted to a Universal Bounty, as they are wanted by the whole galaxy. this cannot be removed until destruction, and will apply strictly to the player (preventing them from hiding in other ships)

-These bounties are valid even in Anarchy states.

-No KWS required to claim

-Bounty is actually rewarded in the form of Pilots fed Combat bonds (to prevent the BGS from having a cardiac arrest)

-Players with a Galactic Bounty are Locked out from Solo and private play for the duration of the bounty (preventing further hiding)

-New filter added to Galmap for 'Wanted CMDRs'

Such a system like this would drastically encourage PvP in-game, as well as slightly reducing the griefer threat. it would also spark a PvP goldrush making it perhaps the most lucrative aspect of the game. after all, who wouldn't flock to get their hands on a bounty of 100's of millions (possibly even billions) of credits?! ;)

I would love to hear your thoughts on this, or ways to improve it!

I have suggested this myself.. would be a great way to get Some good PvP game play

also

CQC but with your own ships. With ranked and A leader board...

Build a ship in live sever pick in your ship yard in "the arena" then have at it!

It gives Elite a Good endgame. and something to work for Heck even trow in Thargoid Arenas. And some PVE ones for the PVE boards as well.

I don't really see this working very well and it sounds to me like a way to just punish griefers.

I think a better idea would be for players to be able to collect bounties from players aligned to opposing powers and the more territory your power controls, the higher the payout.
Picking a power would also have to either be permanent or only able to change every month or something.

Frontier tried Galactic Bounties for PvP crimes in 2.4. They were scrapped a patch later in 3.0. So much for that.

Would be great if the bounties had no limit and players could place them on other players.

I had a 100mill bounty placed on my head in EVE as a birthday present from my corp one year. Made my life a lot more interesting for a little while.

Essenetially "griefer" punishment.

Breaks existing established mechanics to get back at the nasty griefers, and betrays a lack of knowledge/respect for those very game mechanics.

No.

Of course the griefers see nothing wrong with the current system and are happy and content for it to continue as is. I would like to see a galmap filter added to show griefer locations (based on notoriety) and when I choose one to track down I get an automatic wing beacon attached to his ship. The target will also be locked in open mode until his notoriety is "resolved". haha. Such a pipe dream.

You realise the so called griefers have done more to promote/resolve meaningful PvP in this game than Fdev ever have, yet Fdev promoted PvP as a selling point when the game released.

Who started/runs the PvP hub discord, who started/runs the PvP league discord, who thought up the events that have been held in game so far? These "griefers" don't earn their living from low effort paint packs or releasing shoddy/buggy content.

I dont know if their promotions compensate for the vast numbers of snowflake noobs that have been driven out of open or out of the game completely. Having a new mechanism to turn griefers into content for lawfuls (or other griefers for that matter) would be something to create emergent gameplay and for which they can't complain. Or if they wanted to complain I'll gladly ignore them as my crew and I gleefully hunt them down.

I'll be the first to say the current system sucks and needs to be changed but a change that only punishes griefers won't be a welcome one.
I do like the idea of players with notoriety being visble on the galmap though. They have the same kind of system in Fallout 76 and it actually makes for some really exciting gameplay.

I'm sorry but who cares? Those snowflakes that cry when they lose a little bit of game money ruin the game for everyone else anyways. I'm sorry to sound so cruel but good riddance. Let em leave or play in solo.

Many of us have been advocating for a true bounty hunting system for some time.

I think notoriety would be a brilliant way to implement it, regardless of the source of the notoriety (PvE vs PvP). And with none of the magical anti-griefer stuff that the OP suggests. Bounties issued would still follow the jurisdiction rules and galmap visibility would be based on last known locations with regard to ship scans.

There are ways that FD could implement it that would make it damn interesting. The salty anti-gweef suggestions of the OP, however, are far from that.

What vast numbers?
How many?
Please be specific.

Hmm, I seesome interesting points about greifers here, I know they have rights too, and to punish them outright is still unfair (Much like how they use fully kitted combat ships against unarmed transports kind of 'unfair' :D)

I put forward a further addition to spin this;

- For Criminals, only a portion of the sum amount will be paid upon destruction (like 5-10% or so) making it less punishing on said offenders, this is from 'criminal contacts' vouching you ship in recognition of such defiance of the law...and perhaps hoping for future 'business' ;)

-To keep repeat crimes going, Illicit activities will pay significantly more (smuggling, Black market etc) to actually reward this behaviour during a Galactic bounty.

-The 'MOST WANTED' criminals can be offered special mission messages that pay enormous amounts of credits to perform illegal activities, giving criminals a gold rush also. and actually providing an incentive to commit as many crimes as possible to keep on top ;)

- Victims of murder have a further significant decrease of ship rebuy (if not free) and NPC crew survive. (creating little loss potential and thus, nothing to complain about)

With this ^ added to the list, hopefully we can create a very nice system for a PvP gold rush, I noticed that some people were a little defensive over the rights of Griefers. (slightly less abrupt responses would of been nice.... I don't mean to outright attack people, this was just a suggestion :( ) So this should help balance it out a little, remember, criminals still NEED to be punished (otherwise what is the difference between legal and illegal :D ) but it needn't be so severe.

As a result (although my original contention was to decrease ganking) Ganks will fluctuate expectedly, while players will be Ganked, those responcible will not be active for very long ;)

So here we have it, updated to cater for ALL parties. Victims= Happy, PvPers= Happy, Griefers=Happy. a Win/Win/Win situation of you ask me ;)

I'm sorry to burst your bubble but gankers will be significantly reduced to pretty much nill if Fdev ever manages to figure out a way to give us an actual reason to shoot at each other. The only reason gankers are a thing in ED is because a lot of us are bored. And because there's nothing to entice or encourage new players to join, we just turn our guns on you in your type 7 instead.
Trust me when I say that the day Fdev figures out how to put us on teams and give us some kind of reward, ganking will almost disappear overnight.
You should look at Elder Scrolls Online and how PvP is implemented in that game. A similar system would work extremely well in Elite.

Well, for me personally that would be a good thing. although gankers perhaps wouldn't be so happy about it :D

I suppose that is one motive as to why it is done I guess, although I am bored also and would NEVER consider killing an innocent player, especially for pleasure ( as I would get non, quite the opposite knowing I just hurt someone emotionally) I do have a Hyperactive conscience though, can't even play the bad guy in most RPG games without caring for NPCs :D

However, my view is that PvP should have some sort of divide, be that through powers or sides of the law (both of which have been done POORLY) in order for PvP to actually earn the 'v' in the middle. whilst some gankers will disappear, there may be those who will find excitement through the contestant running.

I have to ask, what is your idea of an ideal outcome? I couldn't tell from your post if getting rid of gankers was a good or bad thing for you sorry :)

I will have a look at it, I don't have it as I actually preferred being away from people with the originals ( it was a form of escapism :D ) so the prospect of being with other players never caught my attention
