type 7 and pad size

It's description in Shipyard says it's a medium ship - that I've now just discovered (after finally being able to afford one) can only use large starports. My trading strategy in my T6 has always been on the edges of the occupied system selling gold, beryllium from small refineries to the big ports. Now it appears I am destined for the next few months selling washing machines from one boring port to another.

I sold my fully upgraded T6 for this one too!!

Gutted!!

My Type 7 served me well doing a regular palladium run (<8Ly, two systems, very basic but quick and easy), then hopped to a Python after a few weeks play (approx 1.5 to 2 hours per evening). About 1,600cr/tonne profit for a 5 minute trip. Not so much on the return leg, but worth it to get back to the nice, juicy palladium.

No washing machines bought or sold.

Simple, run it ragged, then replace it. The Python is a great ship to trade in as it is fun to fly, even on a trade grind. And it is a proper medium, so you can return to your old trading pattern. :)

the biggest ship that can land on platform is I think an ASP (capitals to annoy). I have not had a type 7 so I stand to be corrected

The Python quite happily lands on a medium pad. I am in the process of saving up for another one (traded my last one for the Anaconda).

The best part is the med pad blast pads don't start to lower until you're ready to take off. You get to wait an extra 15 sec or so before you can launch. It doesn't seem like much, but the small/large pads don't have that problem, AND you're probably trading, so it gets super annoying.

Being honest, they need to change the T7 so it can land on Medium pads. It's a good trade ship, but the Clipper is just better in general full stop. The T7 needs "some" kind of advantage over the Clipper to make it a more attractive option for trading, and the ability to land on outposts would be fair.

Sorry mate, had to laugh. You bought a supertanker and complain that you cant dock at your local usual fishing port... If you think a T7 or T9 is about hauling junk then no wonder you have been stuck in a T6 for so long.

Think big

Advantage the T7 had over the clipper was the tiny running cost. Now that the devs changed that, the only real advantage is you don't have to jump though hoops to buy one.

Took me a couple of days to rank up for a Clipper, time spent doing that costs me millions. Buying a Clipper is way more than the simple base price, the effort and time alone makes it very expensive. In those hours of ranking up for a clipper I could have made 40/50 mill easy from trading

This is not possible as it is the height of T7 that does not allow it to use medium landing pads. As for the Clipper it is more expensive than T7 and you need to become a baron first to be able to purchase one.

I think I just got confused with the words 'medium sized ship' in the T7's description and put 'medium sized pad' and 'medium sized ship' together - unlike the T9 which is a 'large sized ship' and which can probably (and fairly) be assumed that it would not fit on a 'medium' sized pad....

It's these damn English words! I just don't know what to do with them...

Yeah, that description is misleading. You're not the only one who fell to inaccurate or scarce informations we're dealing with on daily bases here. Is it so hard to add a line of text telling that it's actually a large ship? As in - requires a large landing pad?

Honest question mate, how long have you been playing? Have you never looked at the pads T7's land on?

To be fair, one of the best trading routes I found was to a small output that sold Beryllium and Tantalum cheap, the Tantalum especially sold in good quantity, so outposts that can't handle big ships do sell more than just junk. I know I'll lose that once I jump from my T6 to a T7 or bigger so will need to look for a new favourite trade route.
