Type-7 update proposal :)

hello; first off i love this fantastic game. I love the variety of ships. My favorites are the Adder, Diamondbacks, and now Panther Clipper :)

I am a fan of the Type-7 Transporter; though it flies clunky, and has very limited use; it is still very cool. It looks like it is meant to be a rescue shuttle. It used to have a niche during the Thargoid Crisis as an emergency transport.

Sadly, she was already a Large class ship, and not very popular over the past decade even before the launch of the Type-8 Transporter. Today, to compare the two, she has:

310 tons cargo capacity, 96 less max cargo capacity than the Type-8 (406 tons)
10 Mass-Lock Factor, 8 less MLF than the Type-8 (18). Type-7 is as easy to mass lock as Diamondback Explorer or Vulture.
7.2s to 180° Pitch, 1.4s slower pitch rates compared to the Type-8 ( 5.8s to flip backwards ).
7.2s to 180° Yaw, 1.8s better turn rates than the Type 8 ( 9.0s to turn backwards ).
205 m/s Top speed (5A stock), 16 m/s Slower top-speed than the Type-8 (221 m/s).
342 m/s Boost (5A stock), 34 m/s slower boost than the Type-8 (376 m/s).
29.99 ly Unladen Jump Range (5A stock), 3.52 ly more jump range than the Type-8 (26.47 ly).
54 Armor Hardness, 4 less armor hardness than the Type-8 (58).
612 Armor, 180 less armor value than the Type-8 (792).
4 small hardpoint, 1 less small hardpoint than the Type-8 (5).
0 medium hardpoint, 1 less medium hardpoint than the Type-8 (1).
21.5% idle heat (5A) , 1.2% more idle heat than the Type-8 (20.3%).
1.4% more heat under thrust (25.3% vs. 23.9%)
3.6% more heat using FSD. ( 65.9% vs. 62.3% )
Type-7 has one more total internal, but no size 7 internal slots (6-6-6-5-5-5-3-3-2-1, Type-8 slots are 7-6-6-6-5-5-4-2-1)

and the key difference:
Large Landing pad required. Big restriction on landing, compared to the Type-8 (Medium Landing Pad).

I have a (not unique) proposal to redesign the Type 7:

1. Allow Type-7 to land on a Medium pad. This will allow it to access all commodity markets and mission boards for passenger missions.
2. Increase Mass Lock Factor so it may escape with passengers.
3. Make it a bit faster, or increase Thruster class size to 6.

[optionally (personal wish): add multicrew seats in there somewhere so we can rescue players! ]

FDev won't leave the older ships without updates forever. I am assuming they will all eventually get a update pass to enable SCO optimization.
I feel like these changes in an update would result in the Type-7 being a good option for any future missions involving rescue missions when xenos return for us. ;)

Thank you for reading!

I also very much like the style of the Type 7.

The Type 7 reminds me of Winnipeg from the short lived series Vagrant Queen. A fun ship.

To land on a medium pad the type 7 needs several metres of vertical height removed. It's large pad because it physically doesn't fit into the hanger for a medium bay. That's a somewhat significant alteration to the ship but an eventual Type 7B would be cool if they can figure out a purpose maybe as a 600t medium with 1 small hardpoint.

I’d like to suggest a change and may make a post of my own.

Starting with tweaks to smuggling, stealth/thermals, possibly modules or adjustments to Lakon ships.

1. Make smuggling significantly more profitable, slightly more than normal trading.

2. Iterate on “stealth” mechanics like using low thermals to sneak past authorities or having specific modules that mask cargo from authorities.

3. Adjust T6, T7, T8, T9 to have these capabilities to an extent that would make them a viable option for their respective classes.

Just talked to someone about how the Panther clipper will make other trading ships basically obsolete, which seems to be true.

The meta would be as follows, Panther Clipper for high volume legal cargo, T9 for high volume smuggling, Cutter for a more combat capable trader.
