Ships Type 9 for heavy mining.

Hello everyone, I recently started mining on my Python and I really enjoy it, but I can't be bothered to swap modules everytime I want to do something different so I was thinking about building a pure mining build to add it to my growing collection of dedicated ships.

I've come with this: https://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/typ....H4sIAAAAAAAAA2MW2cHNwPD/PwMcAAD03+TFEgAAAA==

Does it look good to you?

I will use it for mining near my current base of operations and probably on transport CGs swapping everything for cargo racks, but for that I hope we get a super freighter like the Panther soon.

Thank you!

Right now I have around 250 million. Your build looks powerful and the best you can get out of a T9, but do I really need a full A-grade ship if the only thing I will do with it is mining with the occasional hauling? It will take a while to amortize it...

I love the idea of having a fighter bay and the collector/cargo relation makes much more sense than mine.

d-class thrusters on a t9 are okay. engineering them makes them great. anyway: as above. 4-5 active limpets per medium mining laser, and a 6A power distributor can sustain 2 mining lasers - 3 with engineering.

so, if you fit 3 mining lasers, take a class 7 collector limpet controller, if you fit 2, you'll have more cargo. https://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/typ...A2MW2cHNwPD/PwMcAAD03+TFEgAAAA==&bn=mining t9

besides the amazing cockpit, i'm personally not a big fan of a t9 for mining. at mining CGs, pythons and clippers are always more efficient - they turn better and move faster, and therefor prospect and mine faster - that includes returning to the station more often. these days i'm running a mining corvette - in terms of manouverability, power distributor and cargo space the best mining ship imho.

I did mine in a T9 long time age at Kaushpoos CG. It took me 2 days of playing 4 hours each day just to fill 75% of it's cargo hold. That's one hell of a miner, and it feels very atmospheric when you actually mine in that ship.

I'd advise upgrading the thrusters to at least 7D, because the preformance you will get at full cargo is going to be well.... even worse than a Type-9 at most times. And with that extra mass capacity, you can upgrade your shield generator to a 6A for a bit more power and recharge rate.

Definitely swap out the 5D power distributor for a 6A, because a 5D will drain extremely quickly under the load of those mining lasers (an 8D is just able to keep up with 2 medium mining lasers)

The ECM will only be helpful against torpedoes, which only will be fired by players, and if a player is interdicting you I'm not sure how helpful it would be because your shields are very weak anyway.. Likewise, the chaff won't really protect you except from taking module damage once your shields are down, because you're such a big target. I'd recommend 2 point defense and 2 shield boosters instead.

Get rid of the ADS, you really won't be needing it, instead either have the prospector be a class 1 in that slot and fit another class 3 collector, or fit a class 1 collector to that slot.
