Ships type 9 heavy for Mining and pirates

I hate mining, I get it some people love it & make tons of money and that is great. I am only mining to unlock one of the engineers who requires that I have mined 500t.

I have read a bit and it says that the pirates will scan you when you arrive at a resource site and after a few minutes, they will leave you in peace. I am sat in a mning spot just getting tonnage of any old stuff for the target but I am constantly scanned and either hand over half my cargo or face death.

I am not equipped for combat as I was not expecting to have to fight my way out after waiting for the pirates to leave. I am in an Asp Exp with mining equipment only. So, my question is, how do you deal with this? Just run each time or does the pirate activity drop off?

It doesn’t drop off in my experience. I mine in ships with a fighter hangar and the pilot drals with pirates. I also carry a few decent weapons (I’m Cutter or T10) so I can help out as needed. Appreciate your Asp can’t do any of that.

Because you mine in THE WRONG place. Please use this Tool : https://edtools.cc/
Aim for pristine rings, and - IMPORTANT ! - avoid all those " HRES" since those always attract pirates like flies on a ..... Load a detailed surface scanner, and go in remote places, far from "stellar highways" :p

ONLY THERE the rule of "scanned only once at arrival" applies.
Each new pirate who just arrive in a common place, like HRES, will scan you once. Many pirates arriving non-stop = you scanned non-stop.

In a remote place with no pirate activity = you get scanned only once, when you are empty, then the pirates go away, never to return, and you can mine at will, without stress.

Thank you very much. I will pack my DSS and off I go. One good thing about the Asp Ex, you go far very quickly.

OP when you finish your session pull up out of the ring until you lose mass lock then logout there.
Next session you will get a miner spawn, a pirate or security.
If you can't dodge the pirate you can instantly jump then approach again, rinse repeat.

Follow up.

I found a nice system, was visited once by a pirate who said his kids would go hungry tonight. Still crying for him. Other than that, a good afternoon mining.
