I really do get you about urinating contests and division, but I read the Nova Fleet thing as just them having fun with their role-play. As we all are, talking for months about a make-believe thingamy :)

Fun fact: Polaris is no longer the North star.
In the year 3000 that honor switched to Gamma Cephei (don't know ingame name).

Maybe the Thargoids moved allong?

Hello ya all. I am fairly new to this whole topic but since I have nothing to do in ED right now besides doing this charity rank grind, I wanted to ask one of you if he/she could give me a crash course regardting the UA? And how can I help somehow? I am not a scientist, more like the heavy gunner who can get you the one or other UA for researches.

The in-game name of that star is Alrai - it's around 45 light years from Sol.

It is possible that UAs detect weapons systems and will not reveal itself to any ship that carries weapons, so when an UA is carried on board the ship it defends itself by destroying the ship's modules.

I have seen in some videos that they also emit chaff particles, this can be interpreted as a form of defence.

Has anyone tried approaching an UA without weapons? Is it possible that they are scanning us without the ship's computer detecting this? Maybe a high more sophisticated technology?

What about firing chaff, this could give the UAs an indication that we seek defence and not attack.

Its funny but the audio from the UA seem like it being in trouble seeking help?

im now at the orion neubula and realised that the stars we know as orion are not there...

alnitak is 500ly in my back, direction home. O9
alnilam / HIP 26311 is 700ly further but route unavailable. system has a BH
mintaka / HIP 25930 500ly in my back, also BH

1 and 3 should have signal sources due to proximity of human space. and they are at "the outer rim"...


so that 1 day account pointed to the BHs?!


im going to alnilam first, then heading back.

I'll personally hand the important information (tests done, tests to be done, hipothesis, and anything else we got) between our private forum and this thread.

For the moment, all I can say is that we've some people already there (in HR 1185) hunting, but no signs of the UA so far.

Don't worry, we are just a bunch of xbox players winging up, our group is going to help you guys ornising people to be part of the investigation, no dividing, just adding.

Also just a question but can someone see if there any capital ship battles going on near the LTT 3572 system? I wanna try something.....

Oh and when the test was done of dropping a UA near a capital ship how close were you to it?

Aye I just see no reason to differentiate between someone who's in Nova Fleet and someone who isn't. I just think such arbitrary divisions are completely irrelevant and don't help.

I dunno man, even the above, we're gonna discuss on our private forums, we have some people in HR1185 but I'm not saying any more.

Ok great, thanks. Why we all can't keep it open I don't know. Groups man, it's all secrets and powerplay. =(

PM Derthek he will give you info on joining in. The wiki is useful. Many player actions are adhoc although theres a group one next Sunday.

Also no worries on not being a scientist....half of us in lab coats found them in a cupboard but don't tell anyone. ;)

Yes, a couple of times but I don't feel like I am understanding the real meaning of it. It seems like the UA is an item that has gone throug ha couple of tests. And besides the morse code, all of these tests were unsuccessful or had no result.

So - we have 3 wild UA sightings in HR 1185.

Two in th Black hole zone, one close to a planet?

Is the source in HR 1185?
Any funny looking smal planets we can land on later?

Well, if you check the Wiki, it is explained how you can find one.

Currently our focus is on the Pleiades since we have found the UA freely floating in a SSS at the HR 1185 system. So just head over there and jump in every SSS you see.
Warning, the job is a bit boring, since the SSS doesn't show up very often, so it takes quite a while.
Also, it is not yet clear if HR 1185 is in any way special, so we should really be scanning the surrounding systems as well.
