We are using something that tells us what the nearest stellar object is. And we are also looking for a planet that is basically a gate to other worlds.

And yet no one is actually taking our magical morse-talking name-giving object to a system called "Bifrost"? I am currently looking for an UA, if no one tests the "sound to reveal a secret object" theory in that system, it will definitely be my first test. It's too obvious

So the time between "test proposed" to "wave pitchforks angrily" is now down to 8 hours? That's not even enough time for some people to catch up on the thread, let alone set aside game time to get to the test system. Slow your roll a bit, it's on the testing list.

There are thousands of named systems in the game many of which could be associated with theories about the purpose of the UAs. The theories are just that, theories. There is zero hard evidence of what the UAs are for or what they're supposed to do, if anything. The only result after three threads is that there is morse code in part of the audio that can reliably and repeatably be shown to spell out the nearest "stellar object". In some cases the names are slightly different from the map names (one of the Ross's) I think. The other thing we've found is two distinct ways UAs appear: free floating and in convoys. There are lots of theories and many have been tested with the handful of UAs that are available, but I don't think there's a practical way to play "hunt the hidden planet" with UAs wihtout more to go on. The ED universe is huge, even with FTL and it would be extremely difficult to tell if it's spelling out something new without someone able to transcribe the morse on the fly.

So.. yeah. How do we check where all the infected ships have been over time? are there records? have they been bumped with galnet outbreak news?

Check the wiki, under the "Tests done" section. Those are many of the places we've stopped to let the UA out to stretch it's legs. Add in that most test systems have been an average of 10 jumps away from spot to spot. tl;dr - A significant chunk of human space. If we're spreading a plague (Cerberus or otherwise), it's taking a long time to show up.

Not saying that's not it, but we don't have any evidence (yet) to show that it is.

Perusing the wiki, I spotted this: Tried to go into witchspace through the orginal Elite way (pitch and roll at maximum).
The memory fades, but wasn't it maximum pitch-up only?

So here are my preliminary results of trying make sense out of the location data for UAs:




The first image is just the all the points from this spreadsheet plotted in 3d (with my y axis tilted in the wrong direction)
The second is the same data but with best fit plane superimposed. Doesn't seem to tell me much, but maybe it strikes a chord with someone else. I should also try to make a best fit line as well. Maybe it will point to Thargoidia or whatever.

Also, random thought: could the morse be a rosetta stone for other audio in the game. Like perhaps there's a message embedded in the soundtrack itself.

What if the whole plot-progression thing is nothing more complicated than a numbers game, ie. a trigger based on Quantity of Unknown Artifacts Sold?

Granted, it's not exactly in line with hints that the plot will move on eventually, whether or not players "figure it out". But, as we know all too well, a lot of ED's progressive goal stuff is built around simplistic delivery-count mechanisms.

Yes. What he thinks is a tunnel/portal is just the normal blackhole distortion when there is a nebula in the background. Seen it many times.

HR 1185 seems to be best at the moment, and you won't have to deal with the convoy. Otherwise Timocani is perennially popular.

It seems like people use to missunderstand my posts, I was adding a bit of sarcastic humour to the post, sorry if it seemed something else.

Btw currently at HR 1185 again (had to come back to civ for a problem) but I don't think I'll be able to hunt toight, it's 4am and I'm too tired

Didn't someone post a vid of Raxxla on YouTube a while back? He had done some file wizardry and found Raxxla but the video was taken down (I have no idea if any of this is true) but yes, I'm searching, but I will be spending some more time finding UAs. If anyone could pay me for them that would be great

Well finally got the Lone Star up to HR 1185 and no I didn't take the Liberty up there... are you nuts?.

I can practically hear the ship rusting it's so quiet. Some random Commander is staring at the main star... just sitting there. Probably fell asleep or died of boredom.

Well you could say the same about the UA.......we don't even know if the UA thing will finish after horizens or not and if even it will end before then....and I've been carrying a UA since the first findings of them....which also I guess if it gets to 9 months or so we can call it a baby.....if something happens after then.

Thinking it, it's probably easier to find Raxxla than to solve the UA thing.
