I have performed another recording of the UP idle sound. This experiment was suggested by Bungalo of The Canonn. It is performed in an attempt to find out whether the idle sound is random or not. The experiment consists of listening to the sound of the UP at the same location twice back to back. This is to see whether the idle sound is the same for each time a UP is jettisoned when all obvious variables are the same. Another experiment was done after that that involved honking the UP and then listening to it. This was done directly after the first two jettisons. Each time the UP was jettisoned I recorded around 3 minutes in classified camera. Hopefully this is enough to see any similarities in the audio, or the lack thereof. The experiments were done in a random system roughly 2k Ly outside the bubble, as I really want to do some exploring but my duties in the Children of Raxxla and having a probe bind me to the bubble.

The three different recordings are thus done back to back and are recorded into the same file. I have edited my previous post and made it a summary of all my data. You can find the link to that post in my signature.

We could be way overthinking the image. There's a chance that it is a 'key' in an encryption sense. as in --| is morse. Dot dot dash, and it means long arc symbol. We may need to keep this image around to turn symbols into morse and morse into symbols. Treat it like an alien decrypter ring.

My Korean cousin Kun Zhen, tipped me about it. Tons of tinfoil in there. Octagons, seasons, directions, mother/father/daughters and colours.

Just read the wiki article, it would be too nice if this actually was the hint. With not much tinfoiling the "green key" could be matched to the summer which then can be matched with the constellation gemini which then matches with the stars pollux and castor.
But then, who would do such lateral thinking?

Lets face some theories - of course my personal opinions:

Picture of the sphere and the 4 symbols is all we get and all we need from the sound-recording: 9/10
Sound recording contains more than the picture (e.g., morsecode, other symbols): 0/10
Picture leads to a certain place on Merope 5c: 5/10
Picture leads to a planetary system somewhere: 9/10
Sound has a hidden morse code: 2/10
UP has more than one sound e.g. different sound at certain places: 1/10
Free floaters will be found before gamescom: 1/10

I'm more inclined to think while things appear to be pointing at Merope / M5c, were are missing the point that they didn't originate from there and any clues are meant to be pointing away from there. No evidence to back up this idea though. Although he said the pointing was deliberate, he did not clarify in what way [excuse the pun]

Although to be more specific in this method of thinking, maybe too many people are applying the image TO Merope 5c, when in reality it is FROM Merope 5c that the image must be viewed.

Of course people already think this may be the case and I can't add more to that. My mind is just running away with vague hints. Ignore me. Ignore me but SEND HELP!!

Yup, the sphere could easily be a celestial sphere or hemisphere for viewing outwards from Merope system or Merope 5c.
Either way you need orientation markers.

Could be the lower two symbols |.. ..| marking a horizon or horizontal plane.
Could be the quarter arc marking the galactic plane.
The two outer lines in the |.. quadrant could be an arc of variation based on viewing an object from a point on the surface of 5C.
And many, many more...

Too many interpretations and none of them are any better than anything else.
I'm starting to think that we're not going to know what the image means until we accidentally stumble on whatever it is we're supposed to find.

That's kinda how I feel. For the longest time now I've known this was a little beyond my ability to solve, but it looks like more and more people are just stumbling around.

There's a difference between ''I think this works, let's try it.'' and ''Let's try this, it might work''. We want to be doing the former, but we're falling hard into the latter. I think we're going to need an accidental discovery if this is to continue. Pessimistic, I know, but I don't think there has been any actual discoveries since the image itself was found.

That's kinda how I feel. For the longest time now I've known this was a little beyond my ability to solve, but it looks like more and more people are just stumbling around.

There's a difference between ''I think this works, let's try it.'' and ''Let's try this, it might work''. We want to be doing the former, but we're falling hard into the latter. Maybe I could if I turned off the BGM of the game. Not too sure about it though. My last recording didn't have random BGMs interrupting as far I know. These were done using the same settings. I hope things can still be heard.
