It has been quite common for FD to release the wreck model of new ships, before the ship it self. The Imp. Currier were common in wrecks, long before it was released.

It would not surprise me if the huge wrecks in the Pleiades where Rescue1 reports of 300 people onboard, are Beluga liner wrecks.
These sites are full of 'Personal effects'.

Wait, why does base 8 fit an arachnid species if, by your own logic, we use base 10 because we have ten fingers? If number of limbs was the basis for a counting system we'd count in base 4.
Anatomically speaking, out digits are at the end of our arm-like protrusions. We count on our fingers. As spider limbs don't possess any fingers, an intelligent variant would count using the 8 limbs, which we could call THEIR digits.

What puzzles do we still need to solve? Now that we have the wreck and nothing more is to be added (until 2.2) what can we do now?

Complete the CGs that are still outstanding to get the remaining clues, just in cast there is anything in the clues that helps with further discussion?

So

This thing used to fly or to be space born, because it "crashed".
It used to "crush" its enemies instead maybe to "laser" them. Doesn't seem a combat ship then.
It then get enemies driven before him. What for ? Eat them ? Trepan them like in Starship Troopers ?
Tinfoil hat spinning ...

I put a theory on here over last night / this morning regarding Taurus, Cevus and a drawing. This has been largely ignored, however "latitude 34" fits in with the 3 stars I suggested in Centaurus. I'm currently in Menkent having a snoop around. are the thick lines on the picture latitude lines?......

Hey there!!! First of all I'm sorry for my english :S (I'm spanish and I don't usually talk or write english)

I was thinking about what you said and I got my own conclussion too. As I always say, it's just an opinion so I could be wrong.
I'm agree that those 3 stars can be from the Centauri Constellation.

I've realized too, that it is a hand drawing with not too much calculations. But there are some things put there intentionally:
P9xCCyK.jpg

(Sorry, It is TAURUS not Centaurus :S)

- Watch at those points put there in perfect lane: Taurus, the center, and other 2 points. That gave me an idea, and I was looking for stars in the Stellar map that could be in lane in game too.
And I discovered these ones:

- Alpha Star in Taurus Constellation: ------------- ALDEBARAN ___________ Coord: 10: -22 : -60
- Next in lane, Alpha star in Canis Major:-------- SIRIUS ________________ Coord: 10: -2 : 0
- Center, Alpha star in Centauri Constellation: -- ALPHA CENTAURI _______ Coord: 10: 0 : 10
- I couldn't identify the last one (yet). I was considering Altair (Eagle Constallation), Deneb (Swan) , Antares (Scorpio) or Vega (Lyra).

So... We have 3 stars in lane in the Plane Sector: 10: x : x. The next thing I've realized it was about the perpendicular lane. If we have a plane 10: x : x and the Center of the intersection is ALPHA CENTAURI in 10: 0 : 10...
the perpendicular plane must be x: x : 10.
I was thinking about if it could be x: 0 : x but I'm not pretty sure about it.
So.. we have a sector in the Galaxy closed by those 2 planes in the space.

Another thing I'm still thinking about is that corvus and Sirius are in one vertex (is this correct? :S) of the octagon each one. May these 2 can give us the clue to calculate the distance to the other lanes to the sector we must indentify (the Marked Sector)

I know it's not too much. But we could work together from here :)

Back to the video, part 4. At the end, when the camera zooms on the alien thing, there is an object between the glowing "limbs" that resembles a "head" of sorts. The transmission is heavily garbled at this stage, but one or 2 frames are completely clear. You can even make out a number of roundish objects on the left side of this "head" that remind me of teeth. Note we did not find such a "head" on the planet! Unfortunately, I can only watch it on YouTube at .25 speed and got no video editing software here [noob]

Thinking about it, I am considering to support the view that the thing we found on the planet and the one in the video may have the same origin, but are different species. Duh.

I think that the barnacles are those ships growing as they would still need some mats of sorts to grow, the UAs are the seeds that get planted to create the barnacles and the probes are looking for good planets to use for this reason. Would also explain why barnacle sights for the most part are temp other then game mechanics and the merope 5c barnacle is still there because we wrecked and killed it.

Not to hard from a low grav moon

Like a space flea or tick

It has to have legs for a reason

To crush its enemies, and see them driven before him.

Michael

This suggests that the alien ship legs crush barnacles and perhaps building structures. An enemy of the entities associated with the barnacles, UA, and UP? Not sure how the ship's legs would crush another ship in space unless it moved very fast. Unless a disabling weapon was used first (green goo?) then the legs finish the job.

people quote memes on the internet for no reason all the time. Doesn't mean anything special.

Well, what I'm expecting here is a race that use bio-mechanical ships, perhaps do not uses lazors, or it uses them but do not always need them, because it has other "weapons".
Their ships are living beings, and they love RAMMING you and crunching your ship with their craws.
Or better, they catch your ship with them, and you have no escape but being reduced to bits, by their other weapons (the aforementioned lazors, green lazors).

The central bulge is missing a piece: we could usually call it the pilot cabin, but in this case, being it some kind of living ship, that piece detach when the ship collapses whether it being the pilot or the head or whatever.

Yes I know... Peace and Love...

That quote from MB is adapted from a line by Rashid-al-Din Hamadani - from the time of the Ilkhanate in Persia.

This conqueror once asked to noyan Bourgoudji, one of his first generals, what was, in his opinion, the delight of man. "It is, he said, to go to the hunt, a spring day, mounted on a beautiful horse, holding his fist on a hawk or a falcon, and see it cut down its prey." The prince made the same question to General Bourgoul, and then to other officers, who all answered as Bourgoudji. "No," said Chingiz Khan, "the greatest enjoyment of a man is to overcome his enemies, drive them before him, snatch what they have, to see the people to whom they are dear with their faces bathed in tears, to ride their horses, to squeeze in his arms their daughters and women
."

Hi guys, quick question, are there any known do's and dont's with an UP or is deploying and re-scooping them just glitchy? Lost the 3rd one in 2 days now (SRV re-scooping it from planet surface.. works 5 times then it doesn't appear in the cargo hold --- dropping it in orbit makes it instantly disappear) and it get's a bit tedious.

I'm 10 pages adrift, so someone has probably helped you by now; but yes its a known bug. People have raised bugs and had them reinstated.

I don't know if that's been already discussed, but at the moment I'm trying to get the story behind those interruptions in the Braben interview together somehow.

Part 1 contains a picture of an UA/UP
Part 2 contains a picture of the alien ship that was found yesterday
Part 3 contains a sequence from inside a ship (possibly the Granger gang ship), with a green explosion or s/th happening
Part 4 contains an after battle scene with IMHO an Adder in the middle part, with lots of IMHO Empire ship fragments floating around

EDIT: In part 4, note the green structures on the left just before transmission ends. Curious from what viewpoint the scene is shown, as we find similar patterns on the alien ship (if it's a ship) on the moon.

On the 28th I had come across a Combat Aftermath USS in the same Pleiades system with two Federation Research Labs (TII and PRE) are located (PLEIADES SECTOR IH-V C2-16). Upon investigation I have found--amid a great deal of wreckage--a fully intact ship Ghost ship with a very suspicious cockpit damage. See it here: https://youtu.be/EyY6qFIUYxM?t=3814 This was not an Adder, however, no beacon of any kind was found and the ship had very little damage aside from a nearly perfect circular hole punched or burned thru the bottom of the cockpit (body of the pilot was missing).

At a time I had thought some kind of beam or direct hit could have caused the damage but;

1. as we all know a blown out cockpit does not cause immediate death by itself as long as Emergency Life support remains in operation the pilot should have been able to escape or remain alive long enough to send a distress signal
2. a presumably Imperial Capital ship was parked less than .40LS away the USS (most likely a unit of the Imperial Merope Expeditionary Fleet along with two more Cap ships including this one hovering in close proximity to TII Research Lab (https://youtu.be/37HWeLrOB-U

Could the damage have been caused by one of these giant "legs' that was aimed at the pilot itself to "crush" him/her?

According to the System Map both of these research labs specifically forbid UA/UPs to be delivered (all ships are scanned upon approaching the station without exception).

Not exactly, they were only pulling ships from witchspace, not laying waste to systems in inhabited space. While absolutely terryfying , they seemed to be just an overpowered version of pirates, a constant risk to be taken into consideration when jumping.

Now with 21 century technology, I'd like them to invade, destroy & repeat on a massive scale. Not in a static way like a CG "defend Pleiades Sector blablabla from Thargoid incursion" but actively invading, dozen systems at a time, numerous cap ships, dozens of lesser ships, hundreds of fighters (cuz 2.2) and if community does not destroy all of them in time, the system will be cleansed of life. Superpowers navies should get involved, going full war-time production and counterattacking. If Thargoids are what they were in terms of power, we should lose way more than we gain. I'd be really disappointed if youtube was full of "Alien farming guide - #1 Cobra Mk3 - Bane of Thargoids". That's just unrealistic, Thargies must be very unbalanced, as they always were.
But FDev have said the "unstoppably alien killing machine" trope is a boring cliché.

And most of Europe and its former colonies has Chingiz/Genghis Khan's DNA in its people as a result. However, that is unlikely to happen in the Thargoids' case...

The central bulge is missing a piece:
It's ,upside-down - the bottom of the ship is upwards, hence the "engine vent(s)" and the direction of the Thargon "petals".
