UAs, Barnacles & More Thread 5 - The Canonn

So here is a theory, lost ship with jump drive tech found, possibility of new jumpdrives coming, maybe they jump further than is possible now.
Barnacles and meta-alloys found, maybe repair stations, maybe allow for some new jumpdrives to be made.
2.1 update coming soon, mechanics included that can be used for new upgrades, could this include the new drives.
MB quoted a nebulae is origin of barnacles..
So are the devs stringing this story out, and is the nebulae in a currently impossible to reach area wthout the new drives that may come in 2.1 update.
Are there any nebulaes that we can't reach yet.
Is all the recent happenings building up to the 2.1 launch.

A bit meta, but no way FD will have us fly 20.000LY to fight Thargoids. ;) Barnies seem to feed on 'stuff'. Nebula are the core stuff that results in new stars. I think there is a connection.

The person that quoted me knows that I was specifically referring to the Find in merope. They still suggest the UA has nothing to do with the barnacle when it does seem pretty obvious that the UA points to merope, then we find a persistent poi in merope, and now the similarities in sound.

I'm a bit sceptical about them saying the UAs have nothing to do with barnacles. MB said that not thinking that the UAs pointing to Merope is only because of barnacles was good thinking. He was just trying to spread people out so there was a higher chance of a barnacle being found. He today said that the first one found was actually one of the harder ones to find. He apparently was just trying to make things a little easier without giving too much information.

I think they mean that UAs and barnacles are not directly related but only related by being the technology of the same maker.

Think about it, our technology looks and acts like each other. All electronics have the same basic components and power sources. They are made of similar materials. Is a smartphone, WiFi router and microwave oven directly related? No. Are they related in any way? In many ways.

I think the UAs and barnacles are just like that.
I think

If it's on the same planet and in the same colorful smear areas, I don't think it counts as a "new site" at this point. It just counts as "common in certain regions of space". This is like trying to list all the coordinates of UA SSS's in the UA Bubble...

I think you're right about the new jumpdrives possibly coming. 1, because of the antares galnet post, and 2... open spoiler at your own risk... regarding game files.

In the game files, there is a folder called "fuel", and within that, there is military, value, value 1, value 2, and value 3.

The Barnacles remind me of a bees nest. The central piece has blue glowies coming and going, they land at the outer pieces and "flowers" and return back to the central unit.

It also makes music among other weird ambient sounds.

Meta-Alloys falling out of seed pods makes me, uneasy, with the prospect of taking them to stations.

We're building up to a war that may threaten everything! Fighter pilots on the front lines, traders and haulers constantly reinforcing our back lines, and explorers in deep space canvasing for the the ultimate weapon or secret artifact to win the war!

Remember, the UA didn't lead us to the barnacles by its sounds or physical nature but rather where it showed up. Where are the barnacles taking us? Some are already looking into it.

I think people are making too much out of this. We just happened to find one the day after the server happened to crash. The subsequent barnacle's we've found have been a result of finding the first one.
I'd agree with you, if the first wasn't found in Merope. As other have said, thanks to the UA phenomena Merope has been gone over a lot by people itching to look for UA related anything when Horizons dropped. Its too much coincidence.

There have been awesome conda skins in there for ages as well. ;) If I were FD I'd grab a random youtube vid, rename it "Passenger_Missions.dat" and include it in the next update.

Some screenshots and three thoughts about them (this is the one right next to the crashed Anaconda) :

- The light that is emited by the central "cone" is blinking slowly
- Both the "cone" and the "shards" emit gas that I didn't noticed before
- The cone is not pointing the star as I saw it has been said by some commanders

But if you think about it, we were relying on blind luck without too much solid ground under our feet. Anything would be a coincidence one way or the other.

The first one being found in Merope is a funny coincidence and maybe thought provoking but the server crash doesn't seem to have anything to do with it other than being a day apart.

reported him to FD too for griefing, that kind of play is unacceptable.

Nah, we had a good laugh about it in the wing, that will teach me to have a nice skin on my ship.
Like others have said, it's all part of the game.

One thing that did annoy me though, I lost my ship and ended up back in a sidewinder back in the starter system.
So please FD, is this part of the mechanics when your ship is destroyed, you have no way to do the rebuy, or should I file a ticket?

There's also the way we've been searching. Some have just looked at planets from orbital cruise, some have driven around in SRV's, people like me have mainly flown overhead at 2km+; all of which are ways of searching a planet that lead to zilch

Now you've gone and done it! Now I'm going to have nightmares about giant purple dinosaurs sitting on a planet... waiting....... "I.... loooooove..... youuuuuuu........ You...... loooooove.... meeeeee...."

I'm never sleeping again.

Here's a thought.. The UA shell is about.. 131LY-155LY from merope... Now barnacles are found in merope and at the anaconda crash site.
Which could mean that barnacles shoot out UAs away from merope to 131-ish LY.
Point being, maybe they're found everywhere within 23ly bubble from merope?
Anyways, just a thought.. But have all the barnacles so far been found on canyons/craters?
