Sorry if this has been answered already, there's just too much to read through and digest lately!

Re: The galnet article : b?n?r? ??a??t L??: 2??3 ??n?: 9?.??

I figure that this is BINARY PLANET LAT: 2?.?? LONG: 9?.??

That would seem to match the recently discovered Barnacle at Pleiades Sector Jc-U B3-2 First planet. Coords 21.9371 96.9727
It matches the crashed Anaconda at that location. That's how the barnacle was discovered, it's right nearby.

So I'm stuck above the barnacle in JC-U.

Thrusters are inactive, still at 100% integrity though.

Popped up to see if I could spot the anaconda from a distance, looked away for a second and heard my thrusters cut. http://twitch.tv/hobonerz

I'M PUTTING IN ANOTHER DISTRESS CALL! NEED HELP!

Log out and log back in. It's a weird bug that's happened to me about 4 times today now. It deactivates engines and randomly park you in midair, when I logged back on I was 'parked' in midair still somehow but could take off and leave. The server is really not handling the amount of players bundling into the systems too well is my guess.

So as well as sparklies the barnacles appears to have some sort of MIST above it, like it's giving off waves of some sort.

Not the UA style double image, something different.

I can see the sparklies here too.. so we have the same blue flashies and a very similar purr.. I think they are related, just dont know how.

I'm uploading a 10 min youtube recording, I popped a few spikes and I think my barnacle is screaming. More tests needed.

Oh heres the link for audio

Did you land very near to the barnacle? Might be prudent to start landing farther away and drive to it with the SRVs.

Rampant Speculation:

If barnacles are causing Anacondas to crash, and potentially causing some player-ship malfunctions, then the station malfunctions might not (directly) be caused by UA's being sold there, but nearby barnacles. If the UA was a beacon of sorts, to tell the barnacles where to plant themselves, by selling them to a station we may have inadvertently caused a barnacle to plant itself nearby and thereby disrupt the station. That's why station techs couldn't find a cause; the cause was never on the station.

I "landed" mid-air a couple of times, and respawned underground near the Merope Barnacle after a crash, then took damage breaching the surface.

Thought it it was a weird feature at first, but feels more like a bug.

I was referring to those sections standing out massively from orbit when I used the word "obvious", they are very obvious from orbit. I wasn't saying it was obvious the Barnacles were there! If you know the scale of it you know that it is not a case of "why did you find it "and more a case of "wow I can't believe the guy who did find it found it"

Anyway this is meaningless, all I was trying to do was point out a possible environment or location that they are likely to be found it, some way to find more of them elsewhere, if this is the case then it cuts down the area that they can be found it by thousands of times. many planets don't even have these mineral deposits and those that do the deposits take up a fraction of the surface area.

I searched 5c because it has a higher metal content than all the other planets in the system, and specifically the green goo areas, because where else are you going to look on a dull grey planet. For hours.

Nope :D

Summary of today's EXCITING findings.
@Rizal72, if you need to pick from the list, I've tried to list them here as they were posted.
Let's see, there may be 5-6-7 findings, we need to get the coords and locations into spreadsheets and plotting.

Okai, I lost count. (Sorry mobile device users, I'm using spoilers, lots of text)

Q:Now that one has been found, can you be a little more candid with your responses?
What other nebulae are they found in? And is Lagoon nebula one of those nebulae?
A: MB comment:
I'm afraid not - the nebula that they can be found in relates to their origin and I can't talk about that.

Michael

Congratulations Commanders, a really awesome job.
Respect. o7
