Thanks! I only took a brief look on the one on Merope 5C when lifting off, it was visible to 3-4km (hardly), but it depends a lot on the terrain how easy/difficult they are to spot. If its plain and smooth, then its probably easy to spot, but on rough terrain they can be very hard to see.
Currently looking for them from other Nebulae. Like many others, I headed to Orion / Running Man / Barnard's Loop. I found very promising planets but so far I have spot none. Since the things are organic, I suppose the temperature needs to be somewhere around 200-350 K or so...

You're welcome. There have been some in freezing and some in boiling temperatures so far. Make sure you aren't in solo too, just in case it's there but not there! If you pick some nice sandy wide bottomed canyons/craters and patches of the surface that look a different hue from orbit and swoop around at about 800k you might stand a better chance.
