Alright Gentlemen,

AveMe and I decided to head out on the Reorte/Riedquat line.
With us we will bring two (more or less) heavily armed Anacondas that should sustain those dangers that await.
Of course our primary object will be peacefull exploration but should we be forced to, we will blow those Thargs, or whatever attacks us to Oblivion.

We will keep you updated on our grand journey, if requested.
Also we will be willing to investigate any systems along the way that you guys might find worth the effort.

See you out there! o7

Best of luck on your Expedition! I will probably also be heading out that way as soon as the CG wraps up... I remember last time I was going for the rift .. was early May and ended up turning back because of exciting things being found :)

Well since I dont think im going to get out there any time soon...

Here is my current thinking:

The Reorte/Riedquat line is a general direction pointing you to the right area of the Edge

In the message left by the "old woman" she says: "You'll find the co-ordinates at the end of this message."

and at the end of the message is: "Good luck, and ... right on, Commander."

Drew also gave a hint of ED, P ... which turned out to be Rot13 (Caesar Cipher) of RO, C (right on, Commander)

coincidence ?

I suspect that RO, C was the coordinates ... so we would be looking for systems at the edge along the line that have RO-C in them

And there are atleast three that fit that bill.

I humbly suggest you check these out on your journey :) Good Luck !

That's surprisingly good tin-foiling there. Would be funny if the answer to Drews riddle that we all thought was a bit of a fun game/prank was actually the answer. I for one would feel quite the fool.

Simulacrae is 99% tinfoil, he's one of the best.

I believe it was Karrash who said that frontier have hidden messages all along in their newsletters. I know ea newsletter signs off with the same "Right on, Commander." So it's worth having a thought or two about what that means, exactly. Is it numeric? Is it as simple as ROC? Is it a code? Do we need a Cypher? Could it mean "turn right on commander" as if it were directions, and "commander" is a road? Do we need right hand drive ships? Do you need to be a female pilot to find it (Salome, the old lady, and thargoids are all female) Who knows...

Um. It is what the ship computer said every step on your route to Elite in 1984

If "ROC" is the hook, i remember it being the name of a large mythical bird.
Keep eyes peeled for areas of space that move you on their own,
maybe there is a planet out there that pulls you in at high speeds.

Just some more tinfoil.

You didn't screw it up, but the result is unrealistically low. Most obviously, no one can play 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Assuming 10 hours play per day increases the estimate to almost 20 years.

Also need to account for selecting another system, jumping and the FSD transition. 15s for the FSD spoolup, assume about 5 seconds to select the next system from your nav panel instead of spending time in the gal-map, and maybe another 30 seconds to make the jump itself barring no extended time in hyperspace....if I did my math right

(((400000000000 / 100000) / 115 )/ 10) / 365

....huh that rings in around 9.53 years?.... that can't be right., especially if Red got 20 years...

AveMe, you did the original math, could you elaborate on the numbers where I swapped the 60 for 115, was that seconds or minutes?

Hey Guys,

just came back from an exploration trip to barnards loop for barnacle searching. So far no joy. Just as I have nearly returned to Maia I bumped into a distress signal. I was really suprised to see the Federation Farragut Cruiser "Thunderer" in it who claimed it was heaving difficulties from an attack by 2 sidewinders, an eagle and a dropship. After killing the deadly armada threating the noble Federation Battlecruiser I was flying closer to make some screenshots. Is this a normal distress call signal scenario? I haven´t seen such one. Sector was Pleiades Sector GW-W C1-13 just 11 ly from Maia. What is Federation doing out here in such force? One drive was burning, maybe it was UA damage???? Would explain why there weren´t able to turn on like one of these super laser turrets to make short process of these punks. Bad that I have no cargo scanner. Can I even cargo scan a battlecruiser?

Edit: I can´t upload the pictures I have taken :( Will try again

That's kinda neat. Seems a bit odd for a federation cruiser to be that far from home though. It's also an interdictor shy of the teaser vid where the 4 sidewinders save a farragut from the imperials.

I have cargo scanned several Majestic class Interdictors so I expect you can cargo scan a Farragut. All the Interdictors I scanned were empty so if you do find a Farragut with cargo in ont of these Distress Calls it will be interesting.

Your math is how long would it take if hour is 115 mins long :D It's NUMBEROFSYSTEMS / NUMBEROFCOMMANDERS / 60MIN / 24HOURS/ 365 DAYS
It's assuming that every system will take 1 minute. 10 sec for hyperspace, 15 sec for cooldown, 15 sec for hyperdrive charging, 20 sec for other things. It would take mostly 40 sec per system + 20 that after 2 jumps will give you 40 secs for refuel and other things. To coordinate this you would need application that will select where to jump for players. something that will give for every player list of systems to scan, every jump will give player distance to next system and it's name if there are more systems in similar distance. It's easier to identify next system by distance.
It's possible, but i would rather do it with bots than with players [big grin]
I found tin on one of candidates for barnacles... I made giant tinfoil suit [wacko]

Eh I think it would work better if the math was done differently, because remember a 1 minute search can lead to missing out on the planet, as I doubt that it'd just pop up with a honk, the pilots would then have to resolve their scans.

A honk takes 5 seconds
FSD spoolup takes 15 seconds +4 seconds engagement time
jumps average for me 30 seconds

I'd also say a dedicated sweep of a system should average out about 5 minutes of scanning celestial bodies (I need to get a copy of the dark wheel to see if there's a description of the system, or even the world itself currently all I have to go off is "ghost world" with gates to other dimensions.

I'd also say on average another 10 to 20 seconds topping off the fuel tank,

So average time per system is 6.167 minutes ish.

soooooo ((((6.167*400000000000)/60)/10)/365)/100000= a staggering 112.63 years to check every system. provided I did my math right
((((time per systems*systems)/time in an hour)/hours a day)/days in a year)/commanders

I guess I'm late to the party, but here are my suggestions:

1)Do not even try to find/get to the Raxxla/Formasomething Rift, without four Elite ranks. ;)

2)Is there any mechanics that checks for the required cargo and allows you to get in closed locations?
AFAIK this only works with ranks.

But perhaps it is too obvious.

Closed locations are permit systems. You have to have a permit to go there. Rank is irrelevant, it's the permit that is required. And 4 Elite Ranks? Where do you get the 4th? Sure, Combat, Trading, Exploration, but even with 3 ranks, I would think your combat rank would need to be Elite, why would you need Trading and Exploration to be Elite to get to Raxxla?

4 is CQC

It's The Raxxla. Only the best can get there.

Rank is irrelevant, it's the permit that is required.

And what about Founders World?

Raxxla was available at launch, so cqc irrelevant, and as suggested above, rank can grant you a permit, no evidence that it works without the permit appearing on the info tab.

If you are serious about Raxxla, try one of 2 threads on it. You are not restricted to this thread you know. ;)
