UAs, Barnacles & More Thread 6 - The Canonn

......Sadly we've got not enough commanders to find anything.
I've found loads of 'stuff'. Just no barnacles, clues, crashed alien ships, you know - the sort of things people might be interested in.
Still, I'd forgotten how much I like exploring. So I shall scan the living daylights out of everything between here and 'base'. Might even do it in economic mode....

Check for a shell around the Spirograph.

And remember the shell changed in size over time. If there was a shell it might be closer or further away.

It would be great if the we could do a canon submitted exploration community goal or something when ever we need commanders to explore a particular area of interest (if suitably warranted, would have to be a very good lead) It would help getting the sort of coverage and time that's needed to search an area fully. Might be asking to much of FD though. Plus it would encourage group exploration which is great fun.

Edit

Don't know if FD can limit the exploration data submitted in a CG to a specific area/systems though, may not be possible (can't think of any where this has been the case). Although even if the CG just suggests the area that needs searching, It would raise awareness to players who don't frequent this thread and at least help provide the organisation nessary for a proper search.

Unfortunately exploration cgs don't work like that. Your contribution is the number of systems you have data for, any systems, and a single honk is all thats needed. Systems in the bubble are just as valuable as a visit to Sag A* and scanning planets is pointless.

The command of the Lapsed Pacifist has concluded there is insufficient data to continue in the region
With no defined search area and no indication of a reasonable target we are taking our data from the last 6 weeks back to the bubble.

In closing this is now our theme music for the return !! Fly safe commanders o7

Glad others have seen what i have at spiro funny enough this was a freak accident when i zoomed in on it and the only star there disappeared. Whats even weird and more appealing is the system itself actually feels and looks similar to pleides just with a green hue. I am back there now and am currently crossing the first land able planet as close to the surface as i can in supercruise to see if i get a hint of something strange.

Also the only real angle this splodge of the mark can be seen is strangely when facing towards Pleiades and also the actual nebula has only one system and goes in a line towards it also. If there is nothing found here i will follow this line further out and see if anything else can be found :)

Yeah I figured as much, it's a shame because it would be extremely helpful to have a mechanic like in game that we could use to help direct our efforts.

Would it be that hard to make it 'number of planets' instead of systems if they wanted to I wonder?

Also on that note i forgot to mention in our real life knowledge of that star it is soon to be destined as a red dwarf maybe this is why the uas are moving towards merope in hope to use another system for some sort of tech they need a suns power for etc etc kinda makes sense that the star is destined to become inactive to a point where it is not scoopable while also the uas moving to find a new system like we would have to do with our own sun one day.

We would need to pay them for scanning planet surface ( aka flying 1km above it ).

What?! it changed?!

Yes they are changing it due to the hubble in real life also verifying its expansion ........whoch is also a mystery which makes it even more plausible as an unkown expansion of a nebula in game that is also being focused on over the past few years in real life makes it kind of candidate for such a story.

The only way I see how that would work, is like we did with the CIMA CG. It works, but there will be no help from FD.

Ah, thanks I just took a closer look at that CG, I thought it was an FD official one, which is why I thought this might be possible. I can see it was totally community run. Was it a successful event? I thought I saw a mention of the outcome on a previous news letter but I can't remember.
