Im on the way to hind also. I forgot my frackin Discorvery scanner so... yay PS: Im in mobius
so far, found in metal + rock and rock bodies.. so.. we could just discard metal
slightly annoyingly (but possibly tellingly too) - they also don't need to be in a system located within the host nebula itself either. In fact if the pleiades is anything to go by, more are to be expected on the edge of nebulae?

Except for Merope 5c and Pleione 11a, three different nebulae have had barnacled planets with almost exactly 66% metal and 33% rock. Meanwhile, MB said Merope 5c was one of the harder ones to find. Frankly, given the absence of any actual "game mechanic", they're all equally as hard to find, but if you could take a guess they're on similar planets, Merope 5C and Pleione are definitely not in that group.
Yes. It was an artefact of the lighting engine, proven by a freak incident while I conducted testing.

a loud thought, now that jmanis recalls this:
- when the first barnacle was discovered there was no initial clues on were to find them, that means no references not even a "candidate" profile on planets.
- Merope 5 c's was one of the hardest to find
- all barnacles are still being discovered the hard way: flying.
is it because the easy barnacles have a POI around? or am I missing something else?

Just got to T-Tauri (Where the hind nebula is) i dont have a scanner so lets see how this goes...
ok, it didn't work out very well for Struve, but the map in ESDM in the centre is pretty darn incomplete - the nearest system looked like Synuefe PH-N c9-0 if anyone's got their search on

Have you not even got the basic one? at least now it lets you pick stuff up just by looking at it
I recently fitted my conda for combat. When I heard about "the triangle" i did a quick retrofit. Forgetting the scanner in progress... eh its only 9 jumps back to maia
Judging by all the red entries in my EDDiscovery log, that map is getting some spots filled in. Unfortunately, I see no way into the Witch Head nebula at the moment. Hind should be reachable, though.
Time to sleep on this and maybe scratch along the surface of Col 70 until I can somehow break through into the Witch Head Nebula sector. If not, I should take this as a hint of fate and divert.
I actually took an UA to T-Tauri once. Nothing special, but this was before Horizons.
The most interesting is that T-Tauri is not a T-Tauri star.
Decided to have a quick look at LBN 623.
Very small nebula, no strong candidate planets in the 3 systems that are kind of in it.
I'll broaden the search tomorrow.

This is the new Listening Post just 41ly from Merope
2 Factions: Cooper Research (Democrat 94%), Ant Hill Mob (Anarchy 6%)
No Outfitting, or Mission Board
High Demand for just about everything, Silver is 1000cr above Galactic Average
Selling nothing but H and Biowaste
Given the "C", and their proximity to their possible Barnacle assets, it was thought it might be a good idea to get Allied with them and see if anything unusual might happen. However, given the lack of Mission Board, this is both a little unlikely, and rather difficult. If any Cutter would like to ship vast quantities of Silver, and/or harvest the Any Hill Mob into retreat, it might be a good Canonn thing to do, but Mr Python will just not cut it.

Yeah I was expecting not to be able to refuel there... but what do you know... something seems fishy.
From wikipedia:
"Through VLA radio observations, it was found that the young star (the "T Tauri star" itself) dramatically changed its orbit after a close encounter with one of its companions and may have been ejected from the system."
