If anybody does have permit access to the Imperial Capital Ship crash site, please please please post some photos... If It is what I am speculating then I am anticipating some Caine Massey crates to be found at the wreckage site...

Not mine

I've just managed to replicate this twice!

First was a ship exhibiting exactly the same behaviour. Couldn't lock on, even with A scanners on my Asp Explorer. Tried boosting like crazy to catch up, even looking at it out of the floor windows and boosting upwards to intercept but couldn't get much closer as it continued on its way going sideways. In the end it shot of at "ludicrous speed" (way too fast to be intentionally ingame. It literally shot from a few K in front of me to way off behind me and gone in a blink of an eye, and I lost it. It didn't vanish, I saw it whizz by). Guessing that's when it undocked.

Second time it was a Commander that I previously saw docking. Managed to lock onto him as he was whizzing around sideways, tracking back to look at the station it did seem to be tracking the rotation. it shot off in the same way and I'm pretty sure he wasn't an alien so I'm calling it a bug. Tried messaging him but he didn't respond.

All at Obsidian Oribital. Haven't tried it elsewhere.

Same, was sitting in open in front of OO yesterday eve and encountered exactly that behaviour. Saw some player fly in the station and sometimes (not always) suddenly a ship was created outside, spinning in alignment to the station. I didnt follow it, but they always vanished after some time. I for my part think its a glitch, which interferes the S6:7 story pretty hard for me, since you can't be sure to run into a bug (again - as I still haven't digested knowing I searched a whole week for barnacles, without them spawning at all in many occassions).

Yeah, I've seen this numerous times happen to human commanders. It has even happend to me some times. In the moment when I logged out, before the screen went black, I could see briefly that I was moving fast away from the station while spinning (usually not moving the same way the ship is facing).

Again, still not sold that it's exactly the same behavior since my position was to behind and to the side of OO and the ships did not appear in front of the station but to the side. Do you remember what your sensor was showing at the time? At least one of the reported 'similar' sightings had player rectangles which were lock-able which is seems to be different from my experience. But i agree, it's somewhat disheartening trying to figure out the 'bug or feature' issue. I opened a ticket here, maybe have a look and chime in? https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=231348

Im pretty sure the UAs are pointing to Merope because there is a secret cache of Michael Brookes bobble-heads to adorn our cockpits with - hidden somewhere in the system.

yup - thats what im going with.

Warning Minimum Tin Foil Protection of 1.75mm is advised :

The Narrative of Merope Prime

I'm out of rep for both of you so have some virtual rep and a biscuit on me.

I've been away for a few days, came back and heard an Imperial Capital Ship was destroyed and no one knows who did it. Apparently the chat at the wreckage site is a little strange.

Think one of the NPC's says something like "you don't think this is....you know, what with all the rumours going around."

Plus I heard the Battlecruiser at Sol has disappeared too?

Seems like it's starting to hit the fan a little....

There is no Capital Ship wreckage or crash site. There are sites called "Capital Ship" in Facece, this is what such sites are always called. Two of them contain wreckage of smaller ships and after a short while a capital ship enters. There is no capital ship wreckage. The chatter is similar to that from rescue ships in other sites such as the SS1 search wreckage sites. This is connected with the Independant faction which somehow took over Facece (an important Empire military base) and the Empire's campaign to get it back. It is very, very unlikely to be connected with UAs, barnacles or Thargoids.

Pictures are available here: https://goo.gl/WNBg86

I also have videos of the capital ships entering the sites but there is nothing unusual about them.

yeah, it appeared to the side of the big dockingbay for me, not in front - sorry if i havent been clear about that. And I had several flashing signals on my sensor, so can't really determine if the specific ship was in there - when I came closer it was gone already. I forgot to mention, that I tried the same thing in private (only me) and solo, and there weren't any strange ships in the stations orbit, it only happened in open for me. Shouldn't events happen in solo/private/open the "same" way if its not a bug?

I am pretty curious on the response to your ticket :)

PS: Actually got some minutes before the Mrs. returns from shopping. sitting outside of OO in open again to see if its happing again
PPS: Only one or two other cmdrs here in my instance atm., no real docking activity. nothing unusual as of yet. will see later.

So, who had his/her money on Palin going missing on Wednesday? Collect your reward of 50 sheets of extra thick tinfoil now!

Might be a good time to go check out distress calls and wrecks in Maia.

It's actually quite disappointing this happened. Dozens of people stated they would accompany him, having the hunch almost half of all players had Palin would go missing. But Palin (read Frontier) did nothing with those escort offers. And then seeing him disappear, pfff... You'd almost think Frontier is pushing a story line. ;)

I absolutely see what you mean. I'd also like to add that I really wonder how much difference we as players are able to make - if any, until for example a trigger point is met or something. Meaning, could something have been done by finding and protecting the convoy, does it now make sense to spent some time in Maia searching for..anything related and so on.

Is this the same problem that you see when you log out when docked at a planetary base? You will briefly see the planet, in a weird angle. Like your position and rotation are changed to 0,0,0,0,0 a few frames before you are removed from the instance.

I'm shocked! Shocked I tell you. They announced that he was departing with valuable research, then he goes missing?!? Shocked!

Come one FD, you might as well have ended the last article with (P.S. He won't make it) :p

Palin is fine. He is currently in the custody of LAB 69 (armoured hospitality branch). Nothing to worry about.

I was looking forward to visiting Professor Ishmael Palin and his new high security base. taking missions and aliens to him.
Now i suppose the next part in the story is a community Goal to find his salvageable wreckage for analysis.
