Considering what happened to the barnacles in the last months, I'd say exactly 'first contact'..

I'm on my way to the Red Spider location now. Both that and the Lagoon are towards the core, are there any matching ones away from the core like the others?
Now I've donned my tin foil coat for this one too, as I know I've always said since the beginning it's not going to be the Thargoids, but is there any chance the know locations might form part of, not a triangle or pyramid, but an octagon?

The reason I'm checking the IC 4604 nebula is to prove the 'triange/pyramid' theory wrong.
I haven't found any barnacle yet, but lots of planets seem as candidates. I'm not only getting mad.. I heard my wife whispering in the room yesterday, couldn't hear everything, something about 'Michael Brooks' and 'Valar morgulis'. Do you guys have any idea?
That is interesting - thanks for that. I had initially suspected that it might be the mysterious 'Pirate' Farragut from a few months back, but it looks like a genuine Federation intervention.

Semi-confirmed. Another CMDR and myself "landed" on top of it, and the other CMDR flew "inside it". Zero s given. I am Ensign with the Federation, but have no clue about the other CMDR who was there.
About crashes: Yes, my game crashed too when I tried to land near the Barnacles the first time. Respawned at 1.5km up and landed uneventfully after that. That's the first crash I've experienced so far.
I tried getting near it but they just started shooting at me.
And the crashes? It seems that system is unstable for some odd reason. Maybe brooks can shine a light on it for us.

I want to remark that I have no faith in the triangle theory. I just plotted it to be nice.

Did the Start Screen of Elite changed ? there is Barnards Loop clearly visible, and i did not notice this, yet. Ever.
Was that always there, or is that new.

No idea, it might be an issue we haven't encountered with the capital ship being so close to the surface. We'll analyse the crash dumps as they come though.

. My rank is warrant officer with the Federation. The gamed did crash when i returned to the site and flew near the Barnacle. It's been there at least since the Horizon release. It's also on the forum background and on the Galnet backgrund on the web. Barnards loop Witch head and LMC.
Edit: I lied. The web backgrund has changed this week. Not there any more.

Okay, thank you. I'm playing on Xbox, so for me it is then new, at least my mind does not play tricks on me [wacky]
If it was happening yesterday there may have been a network problem.
i had to do a game reinstall yesterday morning & download was really slow, at times less than 1MB/s. Then yesterday afternoon/evening I was playing & I had several instances of problems getting through to the transaction server & the mission server
I was the other commander
