Was there a ship data core to scan?
Yes, there was but said the data was encrypted and as I'd not had any of the Tip-off missions, it returned no info on the scan.

Took a trip over to Omega-1 Aquari just to have a look out of curiosity.
Found the downed ship and the UA close by doing it's thing BUT the strange thing I encountered was when dropping out of Glide nearby the coordintes.

I flew down to where I'd seen the flash, couldn't find any wreckage (although it was very dark and could have missed it) and there were half a dozen cargo canisters rolling around with random stuff (Platinum, Gallium, Moissanite, etc.)
So I know everyone is a bit obsessed with either the CG or the Tip Off missions hint, but CMDR Mboogey117 on Reddit found something of note to me yesterday. And since I haven't seen it shared yet, I thought I'd post it here. Could be nothing. But could be something interesting.

Now, there's a few things interesting about this. So I flew out myself to take a look at the galnet and the ship.
The CMDR had cropped the galnet a bit. So when I went to search for it I had no clue how old it was. It is indeed a Herald post, which we know to be either freelance player submitted galnet, or a developer post. This one, is NOT a freelance report. It is also dated May 25. The day before Engineers dropped. Or day of depending on actual patch time. So it has been in game since 2.1. I've seen them mention that players keep missing things they add to the game. This seems to be one of them. What do we usually associate Unknown Anomaly with? The UA. So maybe this pilot found something out there and got shot down for it. Anyway, the T9 was nothing interesting that I could find. It seemed to only have some varied metals around the wreckage. It was in a small crater and looked very placed. If he found an anomaly, was shot down, and then pulled into the gravity of the planet, then I would assume the anomaly was somewhere in space in the Chorathia system. This may also just be a clue to look for crashed ships and we could have found it earlier if we were looking and then paid more attention to tip offs earlier. Or, we aren't specifically looking for just a tip off. There could be more of these around the bubble. And just in case anyone wanted to bring up the chances of us finding a random galnet post, this system is very very close to Deciat, where Farseer is.
Anyway. Possibly tinfoil induced here. But it definitely seems like it was something they wanted us to find and never did. Its not random. Its placed by the devs. And it mentions an unknown anomaly. Enough of a lead for me to look into at least. Feel free to do your own searching.
With all this talk about crashed Alien ships, a couple of weeks ago I came across a crash site that I have never seen before. I dug through my screenshots to find it and I did. I have many hours on Planets and I think I seen every kind of crash site but this is the only one like this that I have ever seen, which is why I probably took a shot of it. I only have one shot of it as well. If it is insignificant sorry. http://imgur.com/899qHPB

An what do you do when you find a anomaly, you use probes to explore it. You need to be in orbit of a planet to be affected by it gravity. More hints for orbital testing of the UP.

You get them generally by running lots of missions.
NPC dialogue has a long history of being total hogwash.
If it because the script writers dont actually know what is going on in detail, or if the NPCs are supposed to not know exactly what is going on, I really dont know.
Either way, do NOT take NPC script either in mission text, or local dialogue as gospel.
The title is prefixed 'freelance report', so it is player-submitted: https://community.elitedangerous.com/galnet/uid/57860e6e9657ba2a39588b5a
Indeed it was our very own Nicholas Powell: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...-Submissions?p=4220549&viewfull=1#post4220549
Edit: and particularly nicely written it is, too![]()

I've been one end of this galaxy to the other, and I've seen dozens of those. These tips...where did you find them?
Yesterday I reluctantly, once again, turned to Barnacle harvesting to try and find Yttrium. After visiting five Barnacles, and harvesting two, I still found myself without Yttrium. I do now however have a nice packet of Barnacle data.
Question: does anyone know if you can use the Barnacle data to gain reputation with Engineers, if you sell the data at their facilities?
doh, didn't read the title!!
Yes, nicely written Cmdr Powell!
edit:I suppose since it has been published in Galnet then FD are tacitly agreeing these are valid criteria for barney searching? With no outliers??
The only thing that I take as gospel in ED, is what Lord Zoltan says.
All we can say is that FD is agreeing that it is someone's opinion that these are valid criteria.
Galnet is not the voice of FD. Galnet is the voice of the characters - characters who may be wrong, have incomplete data, intentionally misleading people, or all sorts of things.
