It doesn't help shake the very strong feeling that I'm still a passenger on a certain ocean liner.

In fact it makes it feel worse.

If May wins and the country starts going to the dogs straight after Brexit, with Scotland and NI trying for independence, that means even more bloody voting and maybe another bloody election.

If anyone wants a lesson in how to turn a sensible and stable democracy into a tinpot dictatorship then the UK since 2010 is a pretty good example.
She's trying to stop us getting into the lifeboats until the ship has already sunk, too.

I wonder if the Liberal Democrats will come out with a manifesto saying that their intention is to reverse A50 if they get into power, and that after that has been accomplished, they will then call another election again i.e. turn the GE into a rerun of the referendum. If they do this, and if they get some kind of nod and wink from the EU that they would be allowed to reverse the A50 if they win, they could actually pick up a lot of seats. I'm sure they won't win, but they could certainly have a chance of winning a lot more seats than last time around.

This would also depend on them convincing people that A50 can be reversed - other parties will argue it's too late and therefore no point voting for them.

Ehhhh. :D TM still not getting it. UK Either stays or screwed up. Royally. And by trying to avoid one option she can only empower the other.

It appears all UK party leaders are keen for a general election. Apparently turkeys will vote for Christmas.

That would entail believing what the LibDems tell us. I don't know about you, but I'm not that gullible.

How could any sane socialist vote for Miliband though? He's almost as right wing as May.

See that's where you went wrong thinking there has ever been a 'sane' socialist it's a political ideology that brought us Stalin and the millions upon millions of dead due to soviet control of Russia and the eastern block. It's a political ideology that has brought us china and the millions dead due to the communist Chinese regime. It's a political ideology that brought us the National socialist party in Germany during the 1920s and 30s and we all know where that ended up. In fact not one single socialist/communist regime, in the history of said political ideology, has benefited the people it controlled, every single one has restricted the rights and privileges of it's population and where ever people have been subjected to the hardships of a socialist regime they have seized with both hands any opportunity they can to get out from under those regimes. This includes the present socialist elite regime ruling the European Union.

The election will provide her with the mandate she needs to steer Britain through Brexit, free from the ball and chain of parliamentary remoaners and the anti democratic forces within the UK and from within the EU who are hell bent on stopping the will of the majority.

The opponents of Brexit believe that because the government's majority is extremely small that they can weaken our country and persuade the voter to change course and endanger the security of millions of working people across the country.
If we do not hold a general election now, their political game playing will continue as the negotiations with the European Union will reach their most pivotal stage in the run up to the next general election and the anti democratic forces are hell bent causing mayhem and putting risk to our ability to make a success of Brexit, and it will cause damaging uncertainty and instability to the country.

So we need a general election and we need one now to silence once and for all, all those who think we will change our minds and rejoin the corrupt EU dictatorship.

You follow up one unfounded claim with another one.
Why is it better?

Because the Prime Minister is more comfortable with a strong majority in the case of a hard Brexit. Are you naive ?

Nationalism is the same everywhere.

Wrong. North Korean nationalism is not the same that the French nationalism. It is the same thing for the UK and Turkey. There are peoples who are nationalists but less fanatical than others

Nationalsocialism has nothing to do with Socialism. Absolutely nothing.

Ah right, the socialist regime of the EU. Please tell me how they're comparable to Maos China or Stalins UdSSR.

As opposed to the statements of Teresa May that there would be no snap general election - stated about 5 or 6 times in the last year. I would rather believe them than the Tories.

I'm glad you saw things so clearly all along. Perhaps you could point us to your posts before this morning where you were saying the above?

Yeah. Erdogan just did more or less the same thing in Turkey. Funny how despots operate isn't it? Silencing opposition is very important for all fascists.

Won't work in the UK though. Way too many big business interests who will bring the whole thing to a grinding halt, not to mention the fact that whoever replaces Corbyn will provide a much more effective and organized oppostion which will make a hard Brexit less likely.

Yeah... Tin foil hatter nonsense. The only difference between this, and chemtrail? Politics is more about opinion than fact what makes easier to mess up people's head, but still? Stupid is stupid.

This Theresa May is really a very great democrat. She gives the power once again to the people. Not many countries in the world are as respectful of the sovereignty of the people. Already the referendum was a magnificent example of democracy. And now the parliamentary elections ... If there are protestors after that, it would be incomprehensible

:)
