Unable to launch game in VR mode

Occurs consistently since update, when I launch in VR mode I get a message dialog telling me I need a required update for Elite, and then providing the instructions to set Elite to high priority updates in Steam. I am able to launch without issue in standard modes (ED, and ED: Horizons). Anyone else seeing something similar?

So far I have done the following:
  • Verified game files in Steam
  • Updated nVidia driver
  • Updated my HMD (Odyssey+)
No changes so far. Ideas are welcome.

If you're using a shortcut for VR it might be pointing to the old exe version?

Highly recommend Dr Kaii's ED Profiler to switch between 2D/3D, does all the hard work for you.

Yes I had the same problem...For some reason this was the only game that would give me a hard time to update. I tried a lot of things but in the end i just uninstalled everything Oculus home and reinstalled from scratch and i'm up and running

Thanks for the replies. I'm launching the game through Steam and selecting the option to play in Steam VR. I'll give Dr. Kai's a try for launching the game. I usually only use the tool to change my graphics profiles when switching to or from VR.

Unfortunately, the uninstall and fresh install of ED didn't help me.

Launching through Dr. Kai's works! Now I get to join the people who are complaining about the terrible frame rate compared to previous performance, but at least I'm back in.

For those who are still looking for how to bring back everything in place without losing all the FX like Fog and so on. The bug comes from the ship trails. A lot of Elite dangerous Reddit users has already tested it and it seems to work for everybody. So switch your FX to On again and depend...
