Under No Circumstance Should A Support Just Disappear

I noticed when making a helix the supports on the top half just disappears. I seen them disappear in other situations as well. I know it may be difficult, but there has to be some way for supports to reroute themselves successfully in almost every situation imaginable. To see supports just disappear rather than rerouting themselves ruins the look of a coaster. I hope there is a way this can be fixed.

I agree, it just look weird with the supports disappearing but as creaper said, the game is still a work in progress.
I made a recreation of Schwarzkopf Looping Star with the Arrow coaster and there are several places where the supports disappear.

I am making a suggestion in the suggestion and ideas section. Why have this section if people are going to complain that "it's a work in progress". This feature was never implemented in RCT3, maybe due to to hardware restrictions. Now I believe it can be done. I also believe there will be a limit to this feature. I am sure you couldn't completely fill the area below a coaster end expect supports to flourish, but I am sure you can get this game to reasonably find a path for supports. I am just being proactive in indicating how important I feel this feature would be.

Hi,

As AtomicDragon has posted this thread in the Suggestions and Ideas forum, it should be considered as a suggestion made by AtomicDragon, even when it could also be seen as a bug rapport. It does look like a suggestion for improvement. Thanks for understanding. [happy]

I think in one of the live streams they said supports will be done separately from the coaster like in Nolimits 2; that would solve the issue because then, players could determine the support shapes and placement. I do agree though, the prefab auto supports should never disappear. I was placing vegetation under a coaster and the supports would disappear from time to time; it's vegetation - vegetation grows all over the base of supports some times in real life. Same with paths and buildings - if I make a building, the footer height should be adjustable so I can determine if the support goes through the building ceiling or not. For paths, supports should never disappear. Many roller coasters have supports that go over paths and sometimes they even have larger footers that guests can sit on like a bench. PC simply needs guest scenery occlusion so we can place supports and full buildings and scenery on paths without having guests walk through walls, supports, trees, etc...

You guys know that in the latest patch they added an option in the options menu to "Allow supports to intersect scenery" and that they already stated that they are working to improve this feature, right?

Alpha 2.2 update!
Hey guys,

Great news! The development team have been hard at work and have just released their second alpha update. The update contains a couple of nice new features to help with Coaster construction, a bug fix and stability updates.

The first addition is the ability to toggle coaster support intersections on or off globally. This means that you'll be able to have greater flexibility on how your park looks by setting how coaster supports behave with the park around it.

I spent time trying to get rid of supports in RCT3. I found a way that really worked well!
I used a flat roof piece just below the ground surface [ invisible ground mode] ] to eliminate coaster supports and path supports over water.
So an add or remove supports would be a great feature!

while this is great news, it doesn't quite fix all of the issue discussed. Yeah, it means that supports dont care about if they intersect scenery, but like shown in the picture above, if there's too much track nearby, the supports disappear because code-wise, there's no where for it to go.
Coastin' Dave also suggested having custom supports where the player can add them where and as needed, like in NL2. I'd be all for this option honestly.

I'd like a custom support system to be something like "Select track you want to add a support to, click add support and then click where you want the support to connect the track with the ground.

I agree that supports should not entirely disappear, but should adjust in length so as not to pass through buildings. For instance if you wanted to build the Coney Island Cyclone, the supports should not pass through the station roof as illustrated by the following picture. I know it is a wooden coaster with steel supports, but I think you get the idea.

Here is a pic of a real coaster. As you can see the supports attach to other supports of the nearby coaster track. If Planet coaster somehow had the ability to do this automatically would be a major help. It would be great if the user could build rather quickly since there are so many other elements to this game.

That would be awesome if the supports would connect to the nearby tracks supports. Hope there will be a auto function and a function to manually place the supports if you want to build a more realistic support structure for the coaster you are building.

Like a spline based system for the supports, connect the support to the track then point to where you want it to connect on to the ground or to another tracks supports or just connect support to support as in the pictures above. With such a system we could build as simple or as complex as we want the support structure to be.

It would also be great if the supports could be attached to the side of a straight cliff face to support the coster along the side of the cliff face. The below sketch shows what I mean (I'm not a very good artist, so I hope you get the idea).
