Unfortunaltly, there's hasn't been any mention of it as far as I know ( even though we're getting Polar Bears

Someone has some minor problems with short term memory loss.

But with all fairness, I hope we see underwater swimming. Only just because the options for marine life increase with that ability.

I don't think polar bears swim under water. They dive, but not swim. At least they don't like it. It's not a desirable feature or trait. So I wouldn't be disappointed at least if it doesn't swim under water. Aigain, it will just be a bear. Polar bears are shaped different than grizzly bears. That is something I like to see. That would mean it's not just a skin.

But I still agree with the OP dat it would be nice to see underwater swimming on animals that can swim underwater and do so regularly.

I expected it to be in the base game tbh. Asked if it will be in the update, but the devs haven't answered that.

Same goes for crocodilians which spend ages underwater. It kinda means that underwater viewing areas are pointless. Also penguins will never be added unless animals can swim underwater.

Totally wrong information.Polar bears are capable of diving and swimming underwater.They even have a third special eyelid,which enhances their eyesight while underwater.Some polar bears are masters of aquatic hunting.They hunt and chase their prey in and underwater;they approach seals resting on ice floes by combining diving series to approach the seal,they actively hunt fish underwater,attack belugas and narwhales,hunt seabirds resting on the water from underwater and dive (thus swim) for seaweed and clams.
Apart from that,80% of a juvenile polar bear's (not young cubs,because they can become hypothermic quickly,because of the missing insulating fat) playtime is in and underwater.

Besides Polar Bears, the Salties,Gharials,Nile Monitors, Grizzlies, Tigers and even the Indian Elephants should be able to swim underwater.

No chance they could get swimming done for this DLC, if they had the mechanics to do it they would have put it in the game already. This DLC is just some stuff they could bosh out quickly for Christmas. They might add swimming in the future, who knows.

And in a "full" expansion, not just a "minor" DLC.
And they never, ever confirm future additions (be it animals or game mechanics like 'diving') beforehand. Out of principle.

This! I hope not only to see underwater swimming someday (soon), but the ability to create large mixed exhibits. That's why I do not want to see fish or turtles confined to individual "exhibits". This will of course require a major addition to game mechanics, so I guess I'll just have to be patient and hopeful. I think they also need to change that every small animal is listed and tracked as an individual animal and just track the number of a certain species that you have. I would institute this change for exhibit animals too. No zoo in the world names individual dart frogs, tarantulas, etc. They should just list red poison frog (F 4, M 2, J 8). This change would not only produce a lot less visual clutter when we are trying to manage our animals, but should also decrease some computing power.
