Whilst the benefits of a fleet carrier to me as a trader are fairly obvious, one of the unexpected benefits I found was shortly after I had purchased my carrier in Diso. I had a complete collection of all player owned ships (except fighters) in Shinrarta Dezhra and Orang and since I now had a fleet carrier, what better thing to do than to store my fleet on it? Now I could have just jumped to those systems and transferred the ships over but I chose not to. Instead I choose to fly the all from their current location to the carrier.
In the process I upgraded each on, A rated FSD & field scoop, D rated life support & sensors, and so on and where I could I also did some engineering on the FSD.
Then I flew the ship to the carrier, transferred the small taxi-ship back to the carrier and went back for the next.
I had forgotten just how much fun it is to fly some of these ships. Well, all of them actually but some more than others. So the unexpected benefit was to fly all the ship in my collection again, some of them years after having bought them.
I also found that I had a 'spare' T9 out in the black somewhere that I'd forgotten about. Must have been there unused for nearly three years. Sold it of course.
