unfair npc's

If you were interdicted and blasted, it may not have been an NPC. Did you fly in Open or in Solo (or, if you're on PC, what does your log have to say about that incident)?
NPCs usually message you, and the only NPCs that shoot without warning are mission related.

guys i was'nt trying to fight anyone i got interdicted and blasted befrore i could even get my engines up to speed. and i know everyone has been through this also, i've seen to many posts on the same topic. this is probibly the best and most indepth game made to date. it s absolutly incredible what they have done, but at the end they got lasy or something and did not write a simple path of programing to balance the npc'sattacking players. there is no way a small ship set up to grind out the hours needed to advance in this game can defend or defeat the fully powered npc's and if you say you did your lying. yes you got past it and so will i, but it still should be fixed so hours of grinding stop being waisted time for the new people playing and yes i am a new guy to the game, and i have advanced quickly so im thinking im not that bad of a player. i am niether ignorent or stupid there is a imbalance to the programing, if you want to say its just like real life where you may just get your head blown off by some while walking down the street or killed in a car wreck then whats the point of it being a game, games by deffinition are a break from real world. i will bet anything there would be alot less people who quit this game and alot less broken controlers and keyboards as well, if this issue was corrected.

There are some very simple methods to follow, a few have been outlined here. Keep boosting towards your attacker during the FSD cooldown, learn to use all thrusters whilst flying evasive, that includes the lat & vert thrusters, dump heatsinks so they lose lock, cycle SR if your shields are down, highwake instead of low waking if the target is inhibiting your FSD and you need to get out asap.

NPC's are already way too easy and predictable, dumbing them down further is not the answer.

Tbh, sounds more like you ointerdicted by a cmdr, not an npc.

That would totally suck. I'm sorry that's happening and would be totally be frustrating. Like I said the ED experience for me has been nothing like that and if it were, maybe my tune would be different. Hope we don't lose another commander due to frustration.

If I were in that Asp and mining away, as soon as that Conda got close, or worst-case started to scan me, I'd be running away. You should be able to outrun it fairly easily, and once you're 3km out, most of their weapons won't reach you.

If you need to jump but they're masslocking you, high-wake to another system, instead of just going to supercruise, and defeat the masslock that way.

An Asp Explorer with a 5C biweave doesn't have much shielding. I'd slap some boosters on it for sure, and likely consider installing a 5A.

I love biweaves, but they're for endurance in repeated or prolonged fights. In a ship where you're looking to survive long enough to run, they're not good because none of their strengths come into play.

Combat-mining in an Asp only really works in RES's with heavy police presence. If I were you, I would stick to mining low or normal RES's or non-RES spots with no NPC's.

Combat mining is an absolute blast, but you want either something smaller, with more speed and agility, or something bigger, like at least a Challenger or either Krait. The Asp is in a bad spot for combat mining.
thanks this is cool advice and i am thankfull for it did not know i could defeat masslock by jumping out of the system, also the advice on shielding and as i said i was not looking for a fight but was interdicted and blasted before i could do any exscape tactics which is most likely the slow responce of the minning set up of a poor choice of ship. i did not get to advance rank without fighting npc's which i did in a fighting set up for the various ships along the way but the game logic should be able to tell the differance between a minning tug and a fighter and adjust for it, its not real difficult to write a scaling piece of logic into the programing. as much as it ed me off i will keep going, but if i can help get this addressed by the dev's and save some of those behind me from this aggrivation that would be good for me.

This looks like the most likely explanation. If you were blown up before even being able to turn round you've probably been hit by something like a set of fully engineered frag cannons. NPCs don't have those.

I've never been in a situation against an NPC which wasn't in my control (although knowing something is stupid and doing it anyway is another matter...). To have got as far as getting an Asp Explorer I'd say you're probably in the same position.

You can find this out by checking previous contacts in the comms panel. It'll tell you if another player has killed you.

Still avoiding the relevant questions then.

You have 5c Bi-weaves... any shield boosters? Any engineering?
What hull? Lightweight, engineered?
So, how about you post your build and get some feedback.

And really, I find it hard to believe anyone can lose an interdiction vs a NPC Anaconda while piloting an AspX. Are you certain it wasn't another player?

As for "there is no way a small ship set up to grind out the hours needed to advance in this game can defend or defeat the fully powered npc's and if you say you did your lying"... I think you'll find that many of us have, and most of the feedback on these forums is about how easy the NPCs are (with a bit of engineering and basic flight competence). Oh, the AspX is a medium ship, not a small, and can make for a reasonably survivable multi-role ship: https://s.orbis.zone/5cnh

... there is no way a small ship set up to grind out the hours needed to advance in this game can defend or defeat the fully powered npc's and if you say you did your lying....

It's been ages since I flew one, but in a fully set up Vulture, which is a small ship, I'm confident enough to wipe the floor with any single NPC opponent outside a combat zone. With a fully kitted out medium ship (same size class as your AspX), I will kill any NPC ship, and (with a diffferent loadout) dominate the majority of CZs - and I am by no means an exceptionally good combat player. If I need to be reminded of that, I try to fly to Jaques in Open...

If you think I'm lying, come over to Colonia. We can wing up and tackle a few RES or CZs. I have holidays between 22. December and 12. January, so timezone is somewhat optional for a single demonstration.

If you're saying that a medium (as is your AspX) ship can't be kitted out for both NPC interdiction survival and mining, we can also have a go - although in this case, I'd prefer to use a Krait Mk.II. But usually, I go core mining in a DBX and simply ignore the NPCs. NPC interdictions are easy to escape. If you want to join, I could also set up a Keelback - but expect to get bored, as I won't fight in one of those.

P.S.: Mining in the Colonia area is also better than arond the Bubble :)

half of you were seriously trying to help and i have learnded much from you and i say thank you for the advice,, i assumed it was an npc but will check the log as sugested and the other half just P O S's with limeted mentallities and for the amazing mathematician i did not play for 5 weeks straight but should have said playing for over 5 weeks, though i doubt it would have made a difference as you seem to be to concerned with trying to belittle people and inhibit any progress they may make, what are you trying to compensate for?

the game logic should be able to tell the differance between a minning tug and a fighter and adjust for it

Nope. The game (or the player if not NPC) is playing a pirate - choosing an easy target.

You are, indeed, Dam Mad

will you please balance the npc's it realy makes me want to quit playing when i cannot even scratch a npc's shields but he blows me up with just 2 hits where the f### is the fun in that? so far ive played this game for about 2 months and have loged in over 5 weeks playing time and ive been blown up by just about every npc that has attacked me with them being compleatly invulnable to my weapons, why are they so much stronger then myself? fix that, you nerf us the players all the time but never the npc's this game is realy starting to suck, i'm about to quit and i will bet that all the many people who have stopped playing have stopped for this reason do yourself and us a great service and balance the npc's power to match ours and most likely you will keep more people as players

Take things one step at a time.

Learn punctuation and paragraphing first.

Combat skills will follow naturally.

OP, put some time in on evading interdiction. There is no reason to lose to an NPC Anaconda in... any other ship. Even the actually maneuverable NPC ships are pretty simple to evade. Players are another matter. Ditch the bi-weaves, You need thick shields that last long enough to high-wake, not fast generating shields that you can get back up in the middle of a fight. Add armor. It hurts jump range but do it anyway. If your shields go down it may buy you a few extra seconds during the high-wake charge. Medium and Small weapons, without engineering are pea-shooters. If you are setup for mining, in most cases, your not really well served trying to fight in that ship with std weapons.

Interdiction evasion, seriously, work on that. If you do, you will be in a much better position to pick your fights or avoid fights you don't want to bother with.

an asp explorer set up for mining for self defence i had 2 sm burst and 2 med auto's, 5c bio shield, 5A thrusters,5b power plant, and 4a distibutor. i just want a fighting chance, my weapon loadout wont put much of a scratch on a fitted conda so i got to be able to survive long enough to jump or to shoot him alot, but 1 hit from his class 4 and my shields are gone and half my hull not to mention modual failure and im mass locked so takes forever to charge so he blows my to space dust along with 2 hours of mining surplus. just send something i can fight or have a chance to beat i had already been spacedust twice so i scaled down the minning eqpt for better weapons but still seriously out gunned somehow he pulls me out of super cruse in a few seconds and 1st shot im crippled before i can even get my boost going. send a DBS or FED drop, something in the same class for me to fight or give me a chance to jump away
Don't carry any weapons when you're mining, so you won't be tempted to try and fight pirates. When you get to the mining belt, just wait out the pirates. On the way back always have pips 4 to engines and 2 to shields, always submit to interdictions. Boost as soon as you drop out, boost again as soon as you can, then engage your FSD as soon as you can. Never even stop to look at who's attacking you. An Asp is easily fast enough to always get away, even with a 3C biweave shield. 5A thrusters and a 4A distributor are mandatory.

There's no need for any engineering, though if you can get more speed, jump range or stronger shields, it won't do any harm.

^ This is very good advice !

Beating the interdiction is a good skill to learn, but it comes with a risk. If you lose the interdiction, you get a longer cooldown period before you can jump again, and that gives more time for the interdictor to attack you and bring down your shields. You need four pips to shields for as long as the cooldown period is counting down if you are receiving incoming fire.

Submitting to the interdiction comes with least risk. The cooldown time is short and you are able to manage your pips and boost away almost immediately. Then jump. Don't deploy weapons, because you cannot jump with them deployed.

It's a learning balance that takes much game time. As you gain in confidence, you can try fighting interdictions and getting more experience with that. But initially, the best defence is to submit then boost out of range. I still use that technique a lot and I am Triple Elite.

I also have a single key press for firing chaff. Although chaff still has to be allocated to a fire button, a single key press (under pressure of combat or trying to flee) is well worth adding in your Options. Just remember what it is ! C on the keyboard makes sense. I also have another key for deploying heat sink (V on keyboard, next to C) which also disrupts incoming enemy fire. You then don't have to have your hardpoints deployed (which prevents you jumping to safey) when you press the C or V key to disrupt the weapons fire in order to increase your chances of escape.

There are two kinds of jumps, of course. Low-wake is a jump to Supercruise, but that is subject to mass lock by the aggressor (the bigger the ship attacking you, the slower the jump process). High-wake is a jump to another star. Very handy for escaping a bigger ship because the sequence is independent of mass lock.

This is very good advice by the way. I've had hotkeys set for chaff, heat sinks and shield boosters for years now. But the game doesn't make it really clear that this is actually an option. For example, if you install chaff or whatever, you automatically get a warning saying you have utilities that aren't assigned to a firegroup.
That might make people assume that they have to be assigned to a firegroup, where I would actually advise against doing that. Just assign hotkeys. Way more efficient in battle. And it keeps your firegroups (somewhat) uncluttered.
