Universal Derivatives Trading - Making money the SMART way

This is not the persistent reality emulator that you are seeking. Making virtual currency central to gameplay rather than merely a by-product of, risks wearily trudging through 20th century bound time sink design choices.
The fear that Elite will devolve into this in order to guarantee increased revenue per end user is the single reason that I did not buy into the expansion pass.

How about a new Eagle every 10 minutes?
How about hiring your own private army?
How about your own space station in Azeban?

I'm already earning enough to cover 10 Eagles every 10 minutes!! :) And soon it will be enough to cover 10 Cobra's every 10 minutes!

Really don't care about a private army, or a space station...that's not why I got into Elite. :D

When we look at the scale of the universe.
Physical trading using human labor becomes increasingly apparent that it is a VERY inefficient use of people and most certainly a lot less precise.

The real world knows this. This is why people who're FILTHY RICH aren't hauling 400 units of terrain enrichment components .They're trading futures and doing over the counter deals on the market.

I've waffled on responding as this seems to me obviously a troll post using inflammatory language and FD already stated the rich will eventually be able to trade real cash for game Credits.

While I could say a lot, including commenting on the insult hurled at working folk, I settled on this; there is a game for OP where fuel, ammo and buying them are not a problem, it is called Asteroids.

I hope OP enjoys their date with Donald whatever spectacular city they choose to dine in.

I'd much rather have the thrill of possibly getting jumped by pirates and being interactive in a beautifully rendered galaxy. There's no risk or immersion involved if you just sit and manage laborers, pilots, and commodity exchanges from the safety or your docked ship (or office, or whatever).

Now, I DO support the idea of guilds / corporations, and the possibility of building or owning a space station... investing in service facilities commonly seen in existing space stations, etc. The collaborative effort of such an endeavor develops a sense of camaraderie, while maintaining immersion and and giving a strong sense of fulfillment. Of course, I expect the cost of such to, frankly, dwarf the cost of even the most costly of vessels. Think BILLIONS.

Such a station would offer services, but NOT a commodity exchange. Storage of vessels and cargo, sure. No NPC pilots for hire or any of that nonsense.

Now, that being said, I make 150k every 10 minutes, and I'm just piloting a Type 6. Wanna get rich? Pull your nose out of the spreadsheets, stock research, and methods of "real life" power trading, and start flying.

But then how will we get RICH?

Insider trading tip: Buy low, sell high.

Anyway, what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? I really don't like the idea of a complex stock-market game within Elite. Instead, I prefer that they spend their limited resources increasing immersion - ability to walk around stations, build mini bases to hide your loot, planet landings and so on.

Despite this I'm surprised (happily so) that people responding to the idea have spoken so passionately against it.

Basically then you're like the captain of a Maersk ocean liner then...

The CEO of Maersk is probably richer than the captain lol

This is sounding less and less like a discussion on a legitimate game feature proposal (if it ever was) and more and more like someone's dissertation on economics.

wrong, he is his own CEO in his own ship so there is no owner above him to pay him a flat rate and take all the profits.
