Ships unlocking FSD booster..w tech broker..

o7 Elite Cmdrs,

I was looking for a player engineer to help me plan an upg.
I am new and have the stuff for FSD booster, i found the tech broker but the item was red.
which not allows to buy / build it..

should i take my ship i want engineered to this tech broker to unlock
and build this fsd booster?

Once you unlock the Guardian FSD Booster, its unlocked for all sizes and you can mount 1 on any ship thereafter without having to go through the unlock process again.

You'll need to find a Guardian Tech Broker to do the unlock. If the option is red/greyed out then you probably don't have all the required materials - keep in mind that 4 of the ingredients are materials, the 5th is a commodity.

is a good ship combo for a T9 hauler... a 6A FSD ( engineered for engines level 5 ...) and a FSD booster?

will FSD booster speed up charging time?

The Guardian FSD booster increases the jump range by a fixed value. It does not change boot time nor change the duration it needs to build up the witchspace tunnel.

my T9 has in a slot 3 ...DSS .. and a fuel scoop and 704 cargo and a 6B FSD lvl 5 engineered...
should we add fsd booster to slot 3, or slot 2 , or slot 4 ...
me thinks we need 16.39 ly fully laden jump ...
ideas? tyvm

Take some time to unlock those FSD Boosters they are gonna change your life and as GeoJase says it unlocks all sizes at once.

Personal preference, bigger boosters get you further but use up more cargo space.

For a T9, I tend to use a docking computer and supercuise assist in the two smallest slots, and go with a size 3 booster, sacrificing a possible 8t of cargo (size 3 rack) for 7.75ly of extra range. With an A-rated and engineered FSD, my fully-laden jump range is just over 25ly.

A T-9 should be able to do 30ly fully laden

The only application for a B-rated module is if you are building a high-integrity build for ramming stuff.

Otherwise its A-rated for performance, and D-rated for lighter weight. Sure, there might be some niche applications, but this is generally correct.

B rated (shielded) comes in handy in CG trader builds if you aren't confident of your shields holding until highwaking.
Helps to prevent getting your FSD sniped out under your ARX. For those builds a FSD booster is godsend.
