Unlocking the Guardian Fighters Question

Am I missing something here? Yes, the missiles lobbed me up in the air and that was annoying, but I didn't bother with point defence the first time and had no problem getting the blueprint with a 2g hanger.

Edit- I should mention that I did use the guide instead of doing it properly like Morbad.

No, not missing anything, because killing middles with PDF is optional if you use your pips on the SRV.

With regards to time for charging the pylons: if you have the right mats you can supercharge the ammo on the SRV for fast charging - and it kills the sentinels more efficiently.

Nah, I've done them a few times without PD.
I think it's the disorientation that gets people.

You can also shoot down the missiles with the SRV turret, it only takes a few shots at close range.

Mostly though you can ignore them.

Just so I'm clear - are you saying that you used these missiles, plus spawn location knowledge, to kill them before they even surfaced? If so, does the wreckage end up on the surface after?

I don't think it's possible to raise the pylons from a ship, but a hail of overload missiles (thermic damage) will charge them and kill all the sentinels at the same time.

Finished unlocking them all yesterday.

Charging pylons can indeed be done quickly in the SRV (my inital attempts either had me firing at too short or great a distance; far enough for both guns to converge, but inside the low fall off range is optimal) and the SRV only approach does seem to be at least as fast at the smaller Guardian structures that are situated in rough terrain. However, in the more open layouts, a fast lap around the outskirts to bring up all pylons, followed by areal bombardment from the ship is fastest way I can think of, in terms of total resources vs. time.
