Ships Unloved ships... That you just have to love.

Anaconda. I hate it. BUT, its one of the pinnacle ships so I had to buy it and force myself not to sell it when I realized it was a turd.

Anaconda makes a great trader, and when properly armed can be good in a Haz res too. The only real downside is the fact that it is a bit slow so covering the distance between different ships is still somewhat of a problem.

And I'm a fan of the FDS and FGS ... yet not the FAS. I like the idea of slow armored ships loaded with guns. I also think the FGS will become quite popular once 2.2 launches.

I am also a huge fan of the FDS. She carries a phenomenal amount of firepower for the price, and she can bring it all to bear at once, thanks to the excellent placement. The FAS felt like just another combat ship to me - effective but not worthy of affection. I don't have the rank for FGS yet, but I can't wait to give it a go when I get back from DW, on paper she seems very impressive, especially for planetary shenanigans.

Turd.....Not a word I'd use to describe the BEST ship in the game. Period. Anything that can get me safely on half of my journey towards Beagle point and allows me to land heavy with impunity when I'm tired or bored or complacent, and then gives me room to stretch on the bridge with my feet up sipping pink gin has got to be a good thing.
And they make excellent traders, and property fitted for combat those 8 weapon hard points will melt anything.
So turd comparisons...I would reasses the use of that particular adjective. I am passionate about the strengths of the Conda, and her strengths are many.

The Anaconda takes time to love - probably a good month or two of flying it and getting used to its maneuverability. When going from an Asp to an Anaconda, it feels like steering a cow; also, there's this matter of learning how to fit an Anaconda through the mail slot. I know some talented, experienced CMDRs who absolutely abhor the ship because of the time it takes to get used to it. However, once a CMDR gets used to the handling and makes sure to install an A-rank FSD and fuel scoop, it is without a doubt the best long-distance-travel ship in the game.

It requires skill to fly a Conda well. It's made for good pilots. Not all CMDRs are good pilots. It was the apex ship in the game before the 'vette came out and therefore assumed pilots had developed their piloting skills in the journey to acquiring one.
Mail slot manoeuvring is easy once you can visualise points in the ships superstructure with points on the station. If it gets messy put full pips to shield and squash whatever was unlucky enough to try and play chicken with you. Unless it's a type 9 or a 'vette you will win.

Imperial Courier as an Explorer
Now I haven't specifically seen anyone trashing the Imperial Courier, but I haven't seen many praising it either. I bought one just to see how it flies and to mess around on planets. I was super impressed and fell in love with it quickly. For planetary landings I have yet to a ship I like more in terms of fun. This little ship has extremely powerful shields for it size and I have crashed it pretty hard many many times and even with only a 2D shield I never scratched the hull. The main downside is its jump range, but it doesn't bother me much because it's so fun to fly.

+FAST
+Very maneuverable (the agility rating says 7/10 but it feels more like 8-9)
+Powerful shields even with the lowest possible class/rating.
+Enough internals to fit Discovery scanner, detailed surface scanner, fuel scoop, class 2 vehicle hangar, and a spare compartment for whatever you need/want.
+Efficient Power/no (or very little) power management required.
+Quick deceleration
+Sexy cockpit
+Sounds and feels like a fighter jet.

-FSD range isn't great fully kitted out (although the max is 33.68 it drops off quickly when weight is added given its size.)
-Low cargo capacity
-Heat dissipation isn't that great (nowhere near terrible though)

+/-Might cause a certain Top Gun song to spontaneously invade your thoughts.

Here is how I run it when I'm staying within 1000ly or so from the bubble.

I'd be a bit shocked if that ship is "unloved"!

I am enjoying the Diamondback Scout as a mission running ship. It doesn't seem to get much discussion on the forums, though I'm not sure if it's really in "unloved" territory either.

The Orca gets no love. I kinda like it.
The Adder is underrated and makes a dandy beginner trader/explorer.

i thought the orca might make an ok smuggler because of the cargo hold and formidable speed but the range is so bad, i think like 59 ly tops before you're out of gas
and the large pad size ofc but i'm struggling to give up the speed of the cobra compared to every other viable small-midsize smuggling platform! i don't want to have to WORK for smuggling missions jeez

I REALLY don't get why a ship that is supposed to be a space cruise liner has such a terrible range. I'm betting when passenger missions are added it will get boosted (hope so).

The giant ballroom/discotheque and the faux roman baths require a lot of power, and the massive stone wine cellar, humidor lounge and cognac galleries add a lot of weight. Real marble columns and sculpture don't come without a price either. When the Harem is fully stocked the Orca really starts to drag on the longer jumps.

theres a hypothetically limited amount of hydrogen in the galaxy and i feel that we shouldn't frivolt it on such fineries that benefit only the capitalist ruling classes. out in communist space, the PEOPLE'S space, orcas are fitted exclusively with high capacity, efficient, yet moderately comfortable seating.

My guilty pleasure is the Keelback. I just love the bridge, the nacelles, the posture she has landed on planets. Sounds interesting, too. :)

I also enjoy Adder very much. She reminds me of the bus from Spaceballs, but has so much character. Even the field of view that is worse than in 1940s tank adds to the charms.

If you look at the the Caribbean cruise ships, they are big, luxurious and slow. If you are on the holiday, you're in no hurry, I guess and it's the journey that counts.
After all, if you paid a 200LY round trip on the Orca to see the stars, wouldn't you want to see as many stars as possible? :)

Nobody loves T9, the Space Pig. I don't love it either. But I'm currently trading in it. It just seems so appropriate for the loop trading. A ship devoid of any joy for the job devoid of any joy.

I loved my T9 - until I upgraded to the Imperial Cutter.
I had a T7 and hated in enough to grind me a Clipper sidegrade. I also had a T6 and hated it for being so fragile.

I always forget that the Orca is in the game. On the seldom occasion I see one I go like: "What is that? A new ship? Can I buy it?" Then I remember it's an Orca and has little use.
Other ships I never considered: Adder, Cobra Mk. 4, ASP Scout, Keelback, DBS, Imperial Eagle, Vulture, FdL, Federal *ship (not Corvette)
