Unsung heroes - the small cheap ships

So what are your favourite SMALL ships that are CHEAP.

I think I like the Adder the most.

Considering it's size that medium weapon mount is not a bad thing to have and engineered it's not a bad little nugget.

Also, it DEFINITELY needs the A-Team van paintjob.

My diamondback explorer is now capable of fighting the big 3 with some engineering.

By far my favourite ship in terms of looks. Quite happy I can finally make it useful in more ways other than exploring, especially since it was marketed as a long range combat capable ship to begin with.

Does the Diamondbacks count as small and cheap?
I love those ships. The Vulture too.

But if you mention the babyface FdL called Adder, then those ships are probably to expensive.

Hm, that leaves only the Sidewinder for me. I really like that thing. Everything else is not so much my cup of coffee. I would like more small ships from manufacturers that aren't Delacy or Lakon. A small version of the FDS would be cool. A Core Dynamics Sidewinder type ship looking like a big Condor would be extremely cool (or a Condor with FSD).

Definitively not enough small ships. :D

(Yes and not enough medium sized)

I've now fully engineered my sidey, eagle, viper mk3, cobra mk3 and since yesterday the Adder. With a c2 rail, c1 incendiary frag and a c1 missile rack its a weird little thing. But it can jump 27LY, is very agile, carries an SRV, 8t of cargo and an economy passenger bay. So its pretty much good for everything: missions, passengers, mats/data collection, smuggling, rares, anything. :)

Honestly, putting aside my Cobra it's the Hauler when I want to get Harley from A-B leaving my better ship where it is. Time to hide, evade and flee along the way rather than fight but it gets you from A-B in a reasonable time and doesn't hurt if you lose it.

Tempted to engineer one up, fit as a proper minivan and play space taxi for a while.

i think the eagle for me. you are so very close to everything outside - i love it for courier missions, planetary exploration, and, ofc, combat.

but i also own and engineered a sidey, adder, dbs, dbs, courier, cobra ... courier meets the size, but not the price requirement, otherwise that would be my favourite small ship :) ... and i guess dbs/dbe/cobra also don't meet the "cheap" category... even if they are from my perspective. love the small ships! i rarely fly something above a DBE size.

The Eagle for the maneuverability it features, the cockpit and general enjoyment of the flight model and shape.
The DBS for the gunship feeling and helicopter looks. It also features the best cockpit design in the whole game.

There can be only one...

Well, maybe two...

If the adder had a better view out of the cockpit I'd agree but I can't see where I am going in one... Cobra III and the new Viper III for me - the latter has the advanced drive that was previously in an adder

My Python is small....?

Compared to a planet...?

Heh, the DBS is my favourite small ship.
It's fast, cool, packs a decent punch for its size, and mine can jump 30+ly.
Just need Dirty Drives 5 in it, and it's basic upgrades are done.
