Update 1.11.1 is available now!

Guests actually looking at my bats is nice, but the lengths they're going to to actually see them is frustrating. I have a path that runs parallel to the walkthrough exhibit, with the intention of viewing it from the outside. There's approximately a 1 meter gap between the exhibit and the path that is filled with chest-height rocks - I want my guests to look up for the bats. But ever since the update, they've been walking off the path, through the rocks, even ignoring no entry barriers (seriously, i slapped down 20 right on top of each other and guests still just walked right through). They really need to not go off path for this, or at the very least be able to view the exhibit from a short distance away. These aren't little frogs and beetles where you have to press your face up to the glass to find them, you can absolutely get the full bat experience without standing right at the invisible barrier.

You're using the kerbs instead of the barriers; both of them have different uses.

The kerbs (the ones you placed down) will prevent guests from passing unless they have a reason, like for instance going to watch an exhibit. Kerbs are useful for when you for instance have a big plaza and want to section of a zone specifically for benches. That way guests will only go in that zone if they need to rest and your guests will not walk through that area all the time. It's essentially a way to help you manage the guest flow on bigger plaza areas.

Barriers are the ribbons, and those block a guest completely, they can't pass even if they have a reason to do so. So in this case, you want to use the barriers here, because you don't want your guests to cross that point. I know there currently is an issue with guests ignoring barriers when they want to look at a memorial piece, but as this is an exhibit I think it should be fine.

Hope this helps 😄

Well, you're certainly right that I had no idea that the two were intended to have any mechanical difference. I've always gotten by with just using the kerbs before, but I've also never tried to prevent guests from walking right up to a point of interest. Using the ribbon or the red gate still don't actually fix the problem, though. If I do just a single file line of them, guests will still walk right through them. If I start going overboard, like so:

...Then guests won't acknowledge the exhibit at all anymore, just like before this update. Definitely feels like there should be a happy medium here.

Hmmm. They do have a radius so you can actually bring them more to the middle of the rockwork and people still shouldn't go in there ( it's a bit of a guessing game, so you'll have to tweak it a bit whilst you're working on it) and that might bring guests closer allowing them to be close enough to still see the bats. That's all in theory though, no idea if it actually is going to work I'm afraid 😅

🤔 This just gave me a Idea. Did someone ever try if this can help with the Amount of Guests in a Walkthrough Enclosure?

"Updated Egyptian Fruit Bat Hat icon to accurately represent asset in guest's inventory" from update notes.

Color me confused. My Hat's Fantastic doesn't sell Fruit Bat Hats. Is it supposed to do so?

PS, totally disconnected thought is that I loved the anniversary Red Deer that was added and the "release any animal" was so much fun. It lured me into opening my very first
Franchise zoo. :D

My game also crashed since the last update. But only in a new zoo I made for the last challenge and only when I shut down the game.
My adult white skunks went flying after they were put into the habitat and their box opened.
But ..only the white adults...not the babies or the black and white ones.
Hat's Fantastic didn't sell a new hat. And the birthday balloons didn't appear until saterday afternoon.
It was a pity, but well,I had a nice time anyway. :)

So now I have deleted that zoo and want to start a new one.
Beginning with..the skunks. Just to see if the problem is gone or not.

Did you fix/change something with the elephant grass? It doesn't work as invisible barrier for animals anymore (when sunken into the ground)🙈😕

They did something with the elephant grass in update 1.11.2 . If you look at this thread under scenery. But I do not know if this changes the usage as invisible barrier.

They definitely did something....the animals now completely ignore them when sunken into the ground

shouldn't it actually work to sink them into the ground?

I went to a place the other day called Frankie’s Fun Park it’s almost like an arcade and they go karts and few rides but I noticed one thing they have and this could probably be part of an update but how about just like at Frankie’s Fun Park Planet Zoo stars serving draft beer for adults at the zoo

We need overall more Shops. The ones from Planet Coaster that we don't have yet would be a great Start already. Don't know how common it is that Zoos sell alcoholic Beverages if any Zoo is even doing that at all but I also have a little Wine Area in one of my Zoos next to the Fallow Deer Enclosure

Well it’s not the best idea in the world but Frankie’s Fun Park is almost like a giant arcade but with go karts and a putt putt golf course

My local zoo serves alcohol in designated areas.

You are German right? In my experience German Zoos are very likely to have beers in their restaurants, I think all I have been to there had some. But you can find it here in Denmark as well.
