Meanwhile, back on page 6 of this thread...
My stance is the same as it was then.
Better for the update to be right and delayed than deployed and severely broken.
I have the patience to wait for as long as required and I don't need a "date" to fixate on either. Putting a date on a release that is as complex as this one is foolhardy IMO.
Let's face it, this update is not just FC interiors, it's not just a jump animation (which I admit, is something I'm really excited to see), it's an entirely new trading system when players are on a Fleet Carrier, plus there are other fixes and changes for the wider game incoming in the same update.
The issues encountered could be
anywhere. Update 11 is not a trivial update in the slightest. It's a large, complex update that deserves respect from the Dev's, QA's and players alike. The last of these, the most because we just consume it, the Dev's and QA's craft and test it. With the best will in the world, the QA's will never catch everything because their test systems are divergent from production. It's the nature of the beast, as players we're not interacting with the test system so QA's don't see the weird and whacky things we do as players to the system. IME, users of any system will find "workarounds" and ways to do things that the designers of that system
never planned for or envisaged.
Give FDev the space to get things as right as then can but still expect issues because the game is large, complex and written by
HUMAN BEINGS who make mistakes despite their best efforts.
Applying a large complex update to a large complex piece of software is never trivial or without risk of issues, unforeseen or otherwise.
Also, and this is coming from an '84 vet. that loves Elite very, very much. However much we'd like to think it's our second life,
IT'S JUST A GAME to pass our time in a fun and enjoyable way, there's no need for players to be so serious and no need to link every update to the slightest change in the price of stock of the company etc. All that is a waste of your time as is writing most of this post for me I suspect because the point will be missed by many!
