update 18 and improvements on ships cockpit graphics

yesterday we went through a couple of ships to see if there were unannounced changes, too. And probably we saw some changes, but we had no pictures for comparison.

Most obvious is the Imperial Clipper - it has got a lot of graphics changed, away from shiny black carbon optic to that. I wonder why. It even seemed to be a downgrade to a much older version. Current version:

Perhaps it's to match the rest of the ship interior?

Or maybe some of the devs do not know how to do propper software versioning and we've got the real old stuff back into the clipper.

I almost posted about this after using my Phantom earlier, but I thought I was just imagining it to be honest. I thought it looked more detailed and higher quality with some changes to the textures that run along the top side of the canopy at the very least. And I kind of like those changes in the Clipper, at least from the pictures posted. I wonder what else has been changed? Would explain where a lot of the U18 30GB went.

yes, courier and eagle look different, too. Many of the writings in the cockpits visited look more crisp.

Yes, I think so, that bit at least to me looks the same?

Absolutely has been there from the beginning. I've spent so much time in Phantom its cockpit has been permanently burned into my retinas Maybe placebo but Phantom nevertheless looks more "crisp" after this update. Might dust off some pre-update screenshots and compare later.

I think the change in Gutamaya HOTAS colors and materials is also new:

One other thing I noticed that seems to be changed is how the eye adaptation works which might explain most of the difference in the "feel" of graphics.

Yes, I had the impression too, but haven't played enough to be sure. In fact I thought everything looked better, but wasn't sure if it's my imagination or maybe wishful thinking..

I think, I took the shot in a orbital dock, while your's is from a carriers dock?

I just miss the black carbon, the blue-gray underneath and the light gray armatures have got a cheap feeling. I can't remember well the cockpit of the Courier, but there I believe was also black carbon. Or was it on the imperial Eagle?

I think it's the combination of changes in material reflectivity/rendering, overall lighting and eye adaptation. Clipper's cockpit can look really different depending on lighting:
