Patch Notes Update Update 2.1.03 Incoming

Thread Closed: Not open for further replies.
Hi Guys, Anyone having probs. updating, I am getting a Validation error.....................again, this time its to do with the Audio menu

sent a ticket to FD, waiting for reply, last 3 updates it was just a file, FD sent it to me via email, and off I went , but I think they should be looking into it
to fix it, or maybe better still, have a site, with all the replacement files, so members can just log in and get what they need. I hate having to wait for them to reply with a modified file

- Main game power distributors were too good on eng/sys across the board and have been brought back to 2.0 levels
What does this mean? Power distributors received a buff in 2.1 and now they're nerfed again? I wasn't aware anything even changed.

Edit: I don't see any power distributor changes in patch 2.1 or 2.0. Does anyone actually have any documented info on this?

Edit2: I've noticed my Python is taking almost the entirety of the engine gauge when I boost. Prior to update I believe it was taking around half.

That's a severe reduction in performance.

Why did they do this?

Probably mentioned somewhere in this thread, but 45 pages of posts.. probably going to have to search anyway before someone responds.

Wasn't mentioned per se, but you got the idea right.

Means they're now crap and are slower to recharge and consequently you can't boost as often. Not too sure why this was done as i liked them before this nerf.

Yep, I had that problem last night......still waiting to hear back from Support. Are you Australian by any chance, & with Optus?

Immediately after installing the patch I got an additional 8million credits and im curios why?! Since I only had 10million before the patch that kind of money is hard to explain =/ Some kind of refund for AI bugs? But i´ve only been killed twice in the last 2 weeks or so with Insurance cost of 1million each.

But anyway...excellent patch. Looking forward to a solution to HTC Vive resolution issues though.

It's a distribution, but the upper bound is tied to your combat rank for interdictions. This doesn't affect normal ambient traffic, which is determined by the systems various factors. Missions are also able to apply overrides to NPC ranks.

Michael

Why not just delete the ambient traffic? They serve no purpose now except in Power Play to grind Merits.

Hi Guys,

Not sure if anyone else encountered this, but I'm having problem plotting routes after the patch. I cant plot a route further than 100 Ly.

What purpose did they serve before? At least you can scan them for data now :)

There's ambient traffic in a system, plus NPCs that are there because you are. Not sure how you would tell them apart if they don't interact with you (eg a bounty hunter when you're clean)

This back and forth changing AI behaviour for me feels very unprofessional. Beta testing is way over.

My opinion sticks with those who say: AI level should not be tailored to player rank but dependent on system-security and of local ingame conditions (system-states, powerplay-states, neighbourhood)

The only times when AI difficulty could and should scale to player attributes is when he has acitve missions with a threat marker and maybe also scaling NPC bountyhunters AI skill dependent to the height of the bounty on the players head.

Maybe FD could install a noob-protection - meaning AI could be "soft" in the first month after first registering to the game.

I'll try to lay back and wait until powerplay gets a fix (the only part of the game I really cared for) - and then another two months after beta until the finetuning and back and forth changes are settled. This means maybe at the end of the year...

Just trying to really understand this. So there's "ambient traffic" which I take to mean the ships that are just doing their thing (flying back and forth along the shipping lanes, etc). Some of this "ambient traffic" (whose difficulty level is affected by local system factors and not by your pilots ranking - i.e. it will quite rightly have the same distribution for everyone) will presumably include WANTED ships that might try to interdict other ambient traffic and which a bounty hunting player might also try to interdict themselves. What I'm not 100% clear on is whether these "ambient" ships will ever try to interdict the player or whether the ships that interdict the player are in addition to the "ambient traffic"? If the latter then are you saying that the difficulty level of the ships that interdict the player is tied to the player's combat rank or that it's maximum level is just limited by the player's combat rank (i.e. a somewhat artificial NPC level capping that's been introduced to appease players who are getting too many interdictions by higher level ships)?

Hi Marc, yes and yes,
I am also waiting for them to reply, last 3 update have had similar prob. to do with optus users.

FD usually attach a modified file to there reply, I install it and all is well, I bet thats the same with you.
it is getting a little old.

If you know of someone that has got there update working ok, you could ask then if they could copy the file and email it to you. then you could post it on here .

Unfortunately i dont know any members, havent been playing too long.

Regards Peter

It felt to me like this was already the case, oddly enough. When I was harmless (when 2.1 hit) I never encountered anything worse than a Competent NPC. When I hit Mostly Harmless, I started seeing more Expert NPC's. Of course I never tested it by taking on high ranked missions.....so can't say for certain.

You may well be right. A lot of people seemed to think this was the case but I never saw anything official to confirm or deny it. Now that it's officially a thing, though, I'm voicing my position that it's the wrong approach to take; not just from an individual player-experience perspective, but also because it undermines the believability and variability in the game world.

...should be determined...
... Higher ranked ships should be...
...they should be more common...

all these "must have" - the balance, which will kill the game

I must admit I have no idea what you are trying to say. But I'm sorry if I've offended you. For what it's worth - I like everything else that's listed in the change log.

Has been mentioned multiple times by people screwed by it. I find myself several thousand light years from the bubble with a ship that is no longer able to boost. So I either have to spend several days of game play to return to the bubble to tweak my distributor, or I have to explore without the means to boost, which is a considerable inconvenience.
