Update 5 and still poor FPS.

I feel I should point this out for a CM or Dev who reads the forums as its very very bad performance.
I have a brand new system with :-

AMD Ryzen 7 37000x
Nvidia 3060 RTX 12g
32g Ram
Win 10
The game is running from an M.2 drive
at 1080 60hz

And I was running at constant <30 fps and sometimes as low as 4fps at a planetary settlement.
This was after Update 5 !

I know some will say "but but my potato runs it fine".
but the devs and CMs need to know that performance has not increased with update 5 for every player.

Man, that can't be right. I have an i5 8600, 16gigs ram, and 2070, and at settlements it doesn't go below 40fps.

None of this actually makes any sense. I'm not surprised Fdev are struggling.

Maybe screen shot your settings?
Sure :)
Though its basically :-
Removed the "C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics" Folder.
Start the game then this :-
settings 1.PNG
settings 2.PNG
settings 3.PNG
settings 4.PNG

Which is basically hit Ultra then remove bloom and blur after setting display.

And you run that Monster at only 1080p 😱
I have a 1080 Ti card and run a 32" UHD monitor with a second 22" at 1920x1200...

I had no idea it was THAT BAD! ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️

I got a pretty power full set up but the fps drops at x16. The Terrain sampler option on the right side of the screen does recommend x8 for ultra settings

Anisotropic x16?, try 8x for starters.
AF x16 is fine, need to have a pretty ancient or very weak GPU getting any noticeable performance hit from x16 in games, not quite sure why your 3070 doesn't like it.
Shadows and AO do hit much harder, setting the 2 shadow values to high or lower and AO to medium helps a lot.

Strange, I played with the Anisotropic and was defiantly getting a FPS hit at 16x. It really didn't make a great deal of difference to the screen quality to justify it. A bit like Ultraforcapture. Agree with the shadows, again didn't notice a great deal of difference to game quality.

Really? It seems everyone keeps mentioning that Ultraforcapture is the bees knees for getting quality looking visuals.

I am now having problems since Update 5. My game has run surprisingly smooth since release, but now my 1080ti is bottlenecking whatever setting I use. I'm really confused and rather gutted :(

Update 5 and worse performance....again. I could play horizons at 2k ultra wide on ultra settings no problem, the alpha I could play at 1080p on med - high settings and since release and after every update it's gotten progressively worse. I managed to get the game to run smoothly (mostly) by dropping my resolution to 720p with med - low settings after update 4,but now it's a slide show again,I've even dropped super sampling to 0.85x ( it looks like playing a ZX Specrum game) and it's still a horrid slide show at bases. It's a huge disappointment as it seems like it'd be a fun game if it ran properly.

We should really unify and only use one thread for these performance issues. I think the CM team, @BlackMaze, and various others have started threads to track this stuff.
