The game has its own internal time system that it adheres to, so it may appear to someone outside the game that they are only sleeping momentarily when they are in the game getting plenty of rest.

If this is the case it should be lengthened. Give them a couple mins of sleep.... I would be fine with 5 to 10 mins honestly, just set some type of radius trigger if a carnivore gets too close the animal wakes up instantly. They should be sleeping for at least 1 minute. 10 seconds isn't even enough time to enjoy the view or animation.

What is the game ratio to real time? day and night cycles dont change in 10 seconds..... Shouldn't it be 1-5 minutes of real time equals 1 hour game time? That seems like the most realistic setup.

Speaking of sleep feedback....... It would be cool if the dinosaurs preferred to sleep at different times of the day based on species. A herbivore would likely sleep at night, while a nocturnal carnivore would likely sleep more during the day. Just a thought.

The fact that they rest at all is a huge improvement to make Dino’s more lifelike. A lot more to add to the game experience than expanding “cat naps” so let’s no get too picky with this one.

The first time I saw a sleeping dinosaur I reflexively called up one of my ranger teams. It might be a while before I stop having that conditioned reaction.
