Very pleased to see a VR patch, and the 'VR experience' training mission is great publicity, even without a HMD to experience it with.

Does this mean that anyone using a DK2 must wait until monday 28th before being able to use VR again? I cannot seem to get head tracking to work on my DK2. If this is the case please add this info to the original post to save me and others wasting our time trying to fault find. Alternatively let us know if there is a work around or if the problem is just with me. I do not use Steam btw.

I think it is time to start up the discussion again, "Where's the content"?

I've literally stopped playing the game since Horizons since it was said it set the game back to EA. I hate EA, I hate the very idea of asking players to pay to beta test. But that is beside the point. After complaints were made the CM came in and made some claims, 1) it was EA and more content was to come 2) The ability to fly with teammates was to come 3) a character editor was to come, 4) non-cookie cuter quests/missions, 5) random surface encounters with tradable inventory and credits. Where is it? Where is all of this promised content that never released with the expansion? I see bug fixes, XBox fixes, every fix but adding content. Am I just impatient? Is an entire fiscal quarter too much to expect one of those features to surface in?

Steam VR is your only option till Monday. Not ideal, I'm seeing a performance hit at stations on planets with a 980TI, it's still playable tho.. I've gone exploring Barnards loop until Monday, surface ports are killer with steam VR

Thanks for the er update.
"Fix for refuelling 10% button" - what ever took this so long?
"Xbox bounties now in Top 5" - as said by countless CMDRs and has been bleeding suggested countless times in the past for er Suggested Ideas...what's the point if we can not find them?! Simply do make this the Top 10 Local ONLINE nearest bounties with last known place (reported as seen by both Stations and by Player ships)
DO NOT PROCRASTINATE FURTHER THANK YOU. HAPPY EASTER! [yesnod]
.
This would be such a huge improvement if brought out as a FIX to the useless place-holder. I currently have a 40k bounty on me in systems I just do Missions around. You added this danger to rank up and yet you totally missed out on the amazing PvP this would bring and have me playing all day and night! Bring it on! Why do you need to avoid this? To make use of your game development instead but is never the content which we have asked in Suggetsed Ideas here? Come on FD, use this forum as feedback and kickstart the game please.

As they have said, the Engineers update was delayed. Again, as always, it serves Frontier no cookies not to provide what they have planned, but life is life. They often get slammed for focusing on new content rather than fixes, or fixes instead of content. The bottomline is we all want new exciting stuff, including Frontier, but this is a big project, a big fluid project, organic by its design being multi-platform as well as multi-player. If things could be here faster they would be. It's common that what we project/aim doesn't always come when planned, in video games this is very common and has always been the case back to the 80s. The upside is we have a game that is playable, very beautiful, and with a lot of things to do. The Horizons update was a big expansion on the game alone. If you consider that for the average consumer, the base game and addon has set people back about sixty odd quid - maybe less if they got the deal at the right time. Back in the 90s sixty quid would get you a SNES game that would never be updated, never change, and would never have the same scale. Sixty quid was more then too. :) In perspective, what we have, what can be changed and what is still promised isn't a bad set of cards to have delivered. :)

One big problem with Elite is that it is huge. Personally I see it as a good thing, even if the cost of having the game so huge is that it's difficult to fill all this space. The foundation we have is very solid and really fantastic things can be built upon that.
As for the content... I think the sheer scale of this project is what makes an impression there's not enough content. I've been looking at other games, this including space sims, and to be completely honest, it doesn't seem any similar game has more content. The base elements are more or less the same: trading, combat, missions, resource mining. These elements do not really differ that much in other games. Mechanics used might be slightly different, but apart from that the main difference is that other games are much, much smaller. Which makes an impression there is a lot going on there. Elite additionally offers us the ability to explore our galaxy and that is something not many games can currently offer.
I think it would help Elite if Frontier slightly changed their design philosophy and opted for faster paced gameplay, but so far they are adding new things. Perhaps not every day, perhaps sometimes these things could be better, but I believe that with time we will see significant improvements. I think it would also help a lot if we started getting more multiplayer related tools, helping players to interact better and more with each other. Nothing is better in creating game content than a bunch of people cooperating together to achieve common goals.

10% refueling button fixed. Check. (a! [praise] )
Isolate paint job from repairs, not checked. (boo boooooo)

"...about making salvage legal specially the occupied escape pods found in salvageable wreckage. You're rescuing them not stealing them and when returning them to station your rep/rank goes up." +1 for sure. Why should a good deed go punished??

Yeah it should be definitely the right move to do. We are rescuing people out there ;)

Salvage operations should be legal if you come across a wrecked ship its contents should be not marked illegal. Just need to work on the game mechanic for it. As for saving occupied escape pods also should be allowed as long as you don't sell them into slavery. I guess that could also be a valid choice with legal and rep consequences :)

Just downloaded the Oculus software (seems no separate runtime available anymore in developer area), but that couldn't find my DK2, and the for the sensor it complained about it being on a USB 2 port (though it is on USB 3, tried both directly on motherboard connecter, and on a powered USB hub). Then tried to install latest Nvidia drivers, which won't install for me for some reason... ugh... guess I will try again tmw morning :(

How are you other DK2ers faring?

Edit: A few restarts later, and manually downloading etc, at least the latest Nvidia drivers installed now...

Edit 2: Latest Nvidia drivers messed up some other games for me now too... so am rolling back

DK2 tracking is dead now in ED. No light on camera. Other games the tracking is working ok. Not sure how to fix this. HELP!

check the options. I believe they added additional entries for VR. Perhaps something is turned off, I don't have a DK2 or a new commercial rift so I am afraid I am not much help otherwise.

Edit: Disregard my ramblings... I just checked...a few new options at the end but it is to keep people from feeling sick if you are doing crazy stunts in the buggy :)

Edit2: found this in another thread

Oculus Store -> Options -> General -> Unknown sources: allow apps that have not been reviewed by Oculus to run on my rift (Check on).

If the program you are trying to run is not part of My library, then it will not display unless that checkmark is on.

I have a DK2. Installed the new nvidia driver (original Titan GPU), installed the new 1.3 version Oculus runtime/software, enabled unknown sources in it (after it complained for ED), ran the game and it was running perfectly. It even gave me a mirror window. And it seems a lot faster/smoother now. If you are having problems, there could be something wrong with your general windows install. Also, in my case, no USB3 ports are used whatsoever - it's all on USB2.
