Update - thank you for now making the game totally unplayable

Since the latest update I can now no longer play.
Everything is molasses in Antarctica slow - all buttons have a (very) delayed reaction. Five MINUTES to enter SC! Waiting even longer to enter a USS when the game completely froze and crashed beyond repair. Totally, totally annoying - especially as I'd just taken on a new mission which will now fail due to time limit and cost me yet another loss of reputation.

We get it, for you the gane is unplayable - but what about the game? Is that unplayable too?
edit: dirty mods.

Check your graphics settings - they may have changed or reset in-between patches.
Check your network connection, and the Frontier server status.
Also, run a virus scan. General slowness might be a virus or malware.

Thank you for pointing out this heinous and unforgiveable spelling error. I mean what can I say - totally my fault and I realise how much it must have upset you. God, how I wish I was as perfect as you obviously are.
I assure you as soon as I find my ritual Hari Kari katana I will try to make amends in the only honourable way left to me.

The passive aggressive is grinding my gears so I will respond in kind.
It is obviously our fault for trying to help you, forgive us oh great person for causing you problems with your game, I will get on that right away and deal with it even before I go to hospital for this fatal wound.

Being serious:
I've not had any problems and with a quick forum search no one else seems to be suffering the same. De-bug your side, see if you can find out what the problem is.

Re-install the game.
Run a virus/adware scan.
Check internet/firewall settings.
Change graphics settings.

Ideally play on a separate computer with separate internet to ensure 100% that it is a game problem and not your side. If it is the game then post in the Bug forum not the discussion forum.

As Bender would say thank you and goodnight :)

Before accusing FD I would check my own system if I were you.
It might be a hardware or software problem.

It rained today - All FD's fault
Petrol prices rose yesterday - FD screwed up something in the latest patch
My football team lost today - FD is to blame for bring in PP
My cheap-as-chips coffee machine stopped working this morning - When is FD bring out a patch to fix it.

Just about everyone in the thread has been sort of subtly saying it. This is a stupid post, made for a stupid reason, using stupid logic. What have you tried on your end before coming to the general discussion forum to complain?

Check your CPU and GPU temps. It may be thermal throttling as well as malware, a general system issue (check your system logs for errors and warnings), check graphics settings in system and game and last but not least - check other hardware hungry applications (3d games, if you have some) if they suffer too. It doesn't seem to be a general problem with Elite.

Hey man, you post what you like ok, ignore all the negativity and trolling in response, they obviously got nothing better to do than point out how 'stupid' they think your post is.

Not seeing any issues since last update. You have something wrong with your rig or game installaion. Might be worth reporting it but in the meantime check your config, installation and maybe re-install game.

Delays dropping out of sc is normally a networking issue.

Play nicely children. :D

Actually the correct term is Seppuku , not Hara Kiri. /pedant
.
Looks like you have a problem on your PC, as others have said. Probably a graphics issue, as they can cause strange delays like that. You may find for instance that your game runs fine in a window --even a full-screen window-- while slowing drastically in windowless full screen mode.

I had a few issues not so long back, major stuttering around planets, in stations, huge sound problems usually in stations.
Turned out I had accidentally set pc power settings to Eco while increasing sleep time.
Game now runs perfectly. Even more smooth after last up date.

All im saying is, check your pc. Check other high end games, Pc temps and settings.

The near-planet stutter returned to my game last night, on a full time basis. Not that I'm whining or anything. I spent 100x as much time with it than without so one may consider it business-as-usual. Secondly, if they couldn't fix it for a year, it might as well be stowed under 'unfixable, like, ever' at this point. Again, just sayin'.

As one previous poster said, make sure you are not running in a windowed mode.

After this last update ED started windowed for me, with some weird graphical effects. Once I spotted it, I set it back to full screen and all was well.

If all else fails uninstall and reinstall.

Have you loaded any other software or hardware recently? When did you last run a full AV, malware and ccleaner sweep?

I got near planet stutter for the first time last night after the update. I've been playing for a year and not had it before.

I do like the new animations of incoming fire on my shield that I hadn't noticed before. Looks nice and makes it easier to see the direction the fire is coming from.

OP, if you have an nVidia card, check that the latest drivers/optimisations haven't turned on oversampling in ED's configuration. It's done that once or twice to me, setting my GPU's resolution to an excessively high value and causing slowdown and stutter. Not "5 minutes to enter supercruise" slowdown, but it might be a factor.
