Updating Market Information?

I've currently set up a buy order for colonisation materials on my carrier, but I'm trying to figure out how to actually advertise it. I know sites like Inara act as records of where to buy and sell items and do support carrier markets, but I'm trying to figure out how to update its entry - docking with the carrier and opening its market whilst my ED account is linked to Inara doesn't seem to have worked. So, what can I do in order to advertise the potential hauling profits?

I have a question for you OP: how does Inara get it's information updated? I'd also like to know how to set up my carrier to buy the stuff for colonization

This button on the "commander / overview" screen will do it.

The first question is the one I'm trying to answer. The second is (assuming you manage to make people aware you're doing it) to set up buy orders at a sufficiently high price to incentivise other Commanders to ship stuff to you. I'm paying 50k credits per ton, to give you an idea for the price range.

From players running tools like ED Market Connector, ED Discovery, etc.
They send market data through the ED Data Network which supplies sites with new discoveries, too.
It looks like this: https://eddn-realtime.space/

So, when someone with one of these tools lands at your fleet carrier, Inara updates its market screen.

I’ve recently been told you need to open the market for the data to be sent, not just land. I’ve now made it part of my routine when landing, although I don’t often go to FCs.

Edit: I use ED Market Connector on one account and EDDI on the other. It helps keep the Data on Inara etc separate.

The real time thing is awesome, I had no idea

Which one of the tools would you recommend?

I noticed that EDMC would need me to open the market, shipyard and outfitting to update the data while ED Discovery sent all of it right after docking. I'm not sure why there's a difference or if that is still the case.

EDMC definitely doesn't require opening the market. Maybe that was case at some point but now it works on docking.

I had this problem my first time messing with FC orders.

1. Make sure your FC allows strangers to land and configure your buy/sell market.
2. Land on your FC and switch to a different ship. This assures a fresh journal entry.
3. Exit the game fully to desktop.
4. Log into Inara and click the big blue Import button.
5. Wait at least a half hour for your FC to appear.

Worked for me. o7

Will logging on onboard the carrier work for creating a fresh journal entry?

Ah, interesting. It seems the problem I was having was that the account I was using to try and update the carrier wasn't the same as its owner - created an Inara account for my alt and it updated the carrier market fine.

Bacically everything you do in game triggers a journal entry but some seem more significant or final, if you will, than others. Switching ships and jumping systems are one of them. I've noticed Inara isn't perfect in picking up on subtle changes but maybe it's just me and my OCD 😅

Yes, having Inara update the correct account does help. 😄
