Upgrading your Fighter Pilots

Greetings,

So I have this Type-10 turreted laser build setup for fire at will. Park it in a Low-Rez with 3 pips to shields and 3 pips to weapons then go to sleep.
20 hours later I have 40 million credits in bounties but that is not the point.

I have this gal Valentina Vaughn rated Dangerous at 93.9 percent flying around in a fighter with orders to fire at will to increase her combat rating
eventually going to Elite. I'm sleeping and she is firing away. But after 20 hours she might do well to gain 6 percent. It will be worse going to Deadly
with many more kills needed.

So how did you get your combat fighters up to Elite?

I know I didn't give Vaughn a break for dinner. I'm bad.I started her as harmless and we did well in several CGs.

Why do you need a Elite pilot if you're afk farming?

Mine were just from conflict zones. I initially hired an expert & they got up to Elite & during that happened to find a harmless one with a back story I liked so once that second one got up to Dangerous (IIRC) I let the original one go.

As a tool for killing NPCs I quite like them, as a pet there's not much to engage with. Farming one might be okay if someone needs to get the gear quickly to be competitive for faction support or something, otherwise I don't really see the point myself. It doesn't take super long to get them ranked up (well it didn't feel like it) and their ranks don't make that much difference :)

Good points. Thanks.

Interesting mix of beam and pulse lasers, what's the plan? E.g. why not all bursts?

In various Haz RES sites and conflict zones (12,000 bounties and 10,000 combat bonds to my name probably helped things along). There's also been the odd bit of killing innocents thrown in there too- it all helps after all.

Kill everything you see basically.

It is Low-Rez sites. The turreted pulse lasers are actually overkill for these ships while firing forever and staying cool. Maybe bursts for a Medium Rez site. Then those two large beams pointed in the right direction easily take care of business. Meanwhile I made a million bounty credits while typing this response. Vaughn made 94 percent.

In a low RES, the NPCs are only low rank and don't know how to fight. Rank-up points depend on the difference between the rank of the pilot ranking up and the rank of the ship killed. Ranking up will start off fairly fast, but when your NPC out- ranks the victims, it will slow down. In simple terms, when you reach the rank of deadly, you can't get any rank-up points in a low RES. You have to go to a high or Haz RES, but then your ship will get blown up.

Here's the table of points:

I'm already combat Elite and know the point system to get there. As for my fighter pilot it seems that the rules are easier for them moving up a lot faster than I ever did.

higher rank kills(CZ) or 20 times the number of kills you are doing now

let your pilot fly the t10

I ranked up a few pilots that way..I watch TV and make sure they don't die though. I did it long before you could buy Pilot replacement insurance, so not worth it to go afk.

but for the most part CZ's and I let my pilot fly a lot just to make my life easier.
they are very good at protecting the ship but are very slow killers compared to me. but still relaxing and nice to watch.

if you want more kills in extraction sights or CNB's, carry some gold.

Was that without stacked missions? It's easy to make 40 Million Cr with as little as even one mission, sometimes, but I'm not confident about leaving things to themselves, as the faction targeted has a habit of sending the occasional murder ship or two, which can quickly peel away your shields, and you either get a nasty jolt when you see what's happening, or find yourself looking at a rebuy screen.

If that much money can be made without boosting income with missions, I might try it sometime.

The ranking system for the NPC is the same as for a human pilot except that a factor of 2 is involved somewhere. Your own rank has no influence on it. You've already seen what I explained. Her ranking-up is slowing down - soon to zero. Remember. deadly is roughly half way to elite.

its not about credits
its about ranking up an npc pilot

you can make 1 billion a day easily in many ways.

I assume that was directed at me?

I didn't say it was about credits, but wanted to clarify that missions weren't involved. Almost as soon as I posted, I realised that a 20 hour sojourn that 'only' made 40 mil couldn't involve missions.

I've just been out at a Low RES for nearly two hours, and racked up nearly four mil, so it works out, but there was still a moment near the start when my shields were overwhelmed, so there's still no certainty, but that might just be that I haven't got Guardian hull reinforcement.
