Newcomer / Intro using a separate touch screen

My setup consists of a main screen for the game and a separate touch screen to display Inara etc.
The trouble is if I activate the touch screen I lose focus with the game on the main screen which I have to restore by clicking the elite icon in the task bar.

When I play falcon 5 this does not happen so my question is does anyone know how to make Elite behave the same as Falcon

Have you tried running E D in borderless mode? That should overcome focus issues which are usually found if running fullscreen.

I'm not sure this is solvable ithe PC "sees" the touch screen as another monitor, because Elite accepts control commands only when its window is in focus. And you lose focus when you do something on the other screen.

I've seen touch screens that could be programmed as a controller, in which case you just bind commands and you're golden, but this could prove to be a real hard nut to crack.

As Maenden asks, how are the screens connected? Are your display settings set up for two screens? I used to have a two screen set up at work - a lap top screen and a separate monitor attached via D-port. What used to happen is that mouseover grabbed focus.

You might be able to change the Mouse Cursor Mode from the Options > Graphics Menu as I think the default is to have the OS control the movement. I cannot say for sure if this will work for you or not though.

Are these two screens connected to a PC?
If so how are they connected to the box?

Hi Maenden
the screens are both connected to separate DVI ports on on my AMD radeon R9 200 graphics card, and set up as an extended display.

Hi Para Handy
can you tell me how I can change that!!

In Elite Dangerous - Options / Graphics - under Display where it says Fullscreen, open the drop-down list for that and choose Borderless.

(You may have to expand the Display section)

It might help - might not - I don't use second monitor in E D but in flight sims it works OK - sim still responds to controllers even when manipulating in second monitor. However the borderless mode is what you need to run E D in to use overlays like TCE MkII.

Thanks Para Andy

I did that and it is a big improvement, It still loses focus in that my controls stop working but does not revert to start screen so I can still see whats going on . Also easier to revert back because I only need to click anywhere on main screen and not on task bar icon.

BTW do you live near Glasgow, if so I`m almost a neighbor ,in Galaxy terms, as I live in Dumfries and Galloway.

Thanks again............friend request sent

BTW do you live near Glasgow, ...........

Nope - for my sins I am an exile in deepest Yorkshire (orig / alt name is MalcYorks) - nearly moved back to Uist when I retired but decided to stay put here in Captain Picard's hometown. ;)

(I spent a summer in Whithorn back in the late 50's - remember it as a good holiday with fine weather but I was only 9 so biased I suppose. ;) )

I suppose I,m in exile from Yorkshire as that`s where I am from. Retired to Gatehouse of Fleet in 2000. ( not Dumfries 100th monkey) is that where you are?
