Using the term "Forum dad" on here is so ironic...

The term "forum dads" is usually to the forum users who get miscalled for all sorts of curmudgeonly, because we don't want the rate of progression to be silly quick... Yes I've accepted my status as a forum dad. So all the grind-kiddies whine about how long it's going to take to get stuffz, and how hard that grind is going to be, and we get called "forum dads" who "don't want other people to have nice things", yet, the urban dictionary definition fo forum dads is "Forumdads usually complain about how hard things are in the game they're currently playing, because they only have 2 hours a week to play it." But, erm that's backwards - we aren't the ones who throw their toys out the pram when frontier "nerf" a credits fountain, so yeah, that takes away even more credibility for those who complain when their hundreds of millions of credits per hour fountain dries up...

Yeah i always figured grind kiddies complained about how long things took because they had to go play quake with their friends or something and were only playing elite while waiting for the rest of their friends to get home from school and be finished with their parents.

Forumdads don't seem to play anything else apart from elite so its fine to have an experience.

My guess is some reality of the above would be the difference.

Back in the days when it was normal to only have one game and not even know about others didn't matter how long things took.

Nah, the official meaning is right... I was a forum dad. This game's way less fun if you can only play it 2 hours a week; almost no point even trying. I just gave up for 3 years. Much better games suited to forum dads than Elite.

That said, I've been working from home since March (and likely will even after the Pandemic) and I can multi task so...

No longer a forum dad.

grind-kiddies? you're kinder than I. I've been calling them grind-monkeys.

If have found all the forum labels pointless & meanlingless as on this forum over the years I have been called
A Forum Dad
A no life basement dweller
A Carebear
A criminally sociopathic PVPer
Wanting to pull the ladder away for new players as I was too many CR
Just being bitter I didnt take advantage of the Credit rushes
A Boomer
A Millennial

And other opposites

For nothing other than having a position that doesn't align with the poster 100% so much be part of some un-group that is morally undeserving of an opinion.

That is all a label is, a way of avoiding discussion and debate and trying to pretend the other person doesn't have the right to hold their position.

yet, the urban dictionary definition fo forum dads is

the thing with internet expressions is that they diversify as quickly as they appear. but this particular definition from urban dict is also poor, overspecific and ignoring the basic concept, meaning it is simply an ageism.

so nothing to do with asteroid cores, you read too much into it, meaning you have plenty of time, which is good. enjoy, dad!
